What the World Eats -- A TIME photo essay

    What the World Eats
    A TIME photo essay

    Has anyone seen this?

I thought this was incredibly eye-opening. The differences between what average families consume in a given week is just something else...I mean...I've always known that Americans consume more processed food, that's obvious, but just seeing in picture form here really drives the point home.

Wow-- that (small) British family spent about $500.00 per week on food-- less than the Californians with their high cost of living and such. Is food rather expensive because it's an island with not a whole lot of farming land? Hm...

A lot of it looks to be spent on alcohol.

We grow alot of barley. I could get some data on what we actually import, but dunno really.

Pretty weird food eaten there, even by British standards, but yes, most of it is on alcohol.

El Tingo is in Ecuador mr. Proof. What I like about the Tingo picture is that it pretty much very reflects what my family eats in a week. Just add a chicken and eggs, and some candies and that's about it. Ecuadorians consume lots of grain!
