It depends on what I'm doing the only music I don't listen to is country and
techno/rap
yea, alot of ambient music.
mostly stuff without words.
live365 has TONS of free online user-made radio stations that are more than suffient for any music you are looking for.
depends on what i am drawing.
I like a whole range but i find that rock music tends to distract me more then other ambient and classical and folk music so i tend not to listen to it while i work.
Though one artist who always makes me want to draw is Hayley Westenra. She is a classical soprano with an amazing voice. She is also the most beautiful girl i have ever seen. So most of the time i hear her i just want to draw her haha![]()
I set up playlists on my mp3 player of favourite bands and genres, I can also pick albums at random so depends on my mood at the time, nothing too slow or too heavy.

I enjoy Alternative/Punk rock. I often listen thru my iPOD.
Some may find music distracting, but I actually find it helps me get moving. Not just with drawing but with any other day's work I do.
I have The Tube channel thru DTV, I leave the TV on with that channel when I'm alone in the house.
I listen to absolutely anything that takes my fancy...soundtracks, video game music, blues, musicals...when I paint I like easy songs like Sting and Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins sing, or Smooth FM radio...but anything I enjoy will do!
As a few said before I don't listen to rap and country.
Usually I listen to hardcore and metalcore ones with very fast beats(which is pretty much all of them) also some soft rock just depends.

usually depends on what im doing.i cant listen to music without any lyrics while drawing. i feel very messed up and i get distracted.
I like two ends of the spectrum-- either music without words or audiobooks.
As for music, the 2 genres I really like is classical and techno (but none of that slow, ambient stuff- happy hardcore and classic electronica, etc... are good), and especially the mixing of the two.
www.di.fm is a good source for techno, and I also listen to classical on live365.
I don't like music when they scream, or I otherwise can't understand what they're saying, or when it's generally cacophonous - it just sounds kind of cheap and garish to me. However, I had to put up with it in art class for 4 years so I can't say it actually hinders me.
I'd like to thank HiddnFox...I've had Live365 electronic channel going for 3 hours straight, and 7 newsprint pages of gesture drawings. Where does the time go?![]()
