    Olle Werme: thanks!

    Icon: here you go cheers!

So heres two more pages from the book. The golden girl is touched up in Photoshop but the big heads are a straight scan. I don't know why, but I've been throwing tape all over the book pages lately, hahaha.

    take care,

    andreas: thanks!

Here are 2 more pages from the sketchbook. The faces one is straight from the book while the other has color added in photoshop (and definately needs more work). I really enjoyed the one with the faces and hope to do "mural" type pages in the coming days. I'm thinking a page of hands would be good fun. Enjoy.

    take care,

Aw man, you can just FEEL the exaggeration taking place. Almost like you can hear a rubber band sound when the limbs stretch.... my design teacher always said "good design should have a sound to it" your stuff is turned up to 11 man.

magic man: haha I do get that a lot. But no, I am not related. It's kind of funny because when I was younger my parents wouldn't let me look at his work because of the "naked women."

28chelseaslater: thanks. I find that ironic because I usually have no idea what I am doing with color other than I know I dont want to use just dark and light versions of the local color for my shadows and highlights.

So heres a small update of something a little different. These are done in pen and ink, markers, and some Photoshop value. These are quick studies to figure out interesting architecture along with a style I want to use for a personal project. I really dont think I am pushing it enough, though. At least it's a start.

    Take care,
    Francis

With a name like that you better be good haha. Neat style, there is another artist on these boards who goes by the name of Andy P who has a very similar style to his paints, you should check his work out...sorry i don't have a link.

eskanto: thanks, as I put my work out there I get "are you realated to Boris" more, and more.....I should contact him, I'm sure he'd get a kick out of it, I could be his adopted sone by now haha.

n1va: thanks!! for the link, I'm really diggin Andy P's stuff, I can see myself doing stuff like that

    light:cheers!!

So these are 2 more pages from my book. Ive been doing so nasty sketches lately so to fix that I've found a marvelous solution is to paint a yellow box over the ugly sketch. It has done me wonders. haha

sanoma: thanks!! keep up your work too..keep me inspired in my own stuff

    protta: I try thanks!

So now for something completely different....

To make money over the past 2 summers I took up caricaturing at the Detroit Zoo and I enjoy it a great deal. The images below are some of the better ones I've done since I've decided to start taking photos (about 5 days of work). They are done with a Markette marker taking aproximately 5 minutes per person. On a busy day I can draw about 35 or more people. It's great practice and I must say you respect the guys that do it so well because you have to master observation and simplicity of shapes (still waaaaay far away from some of the masters). If you haven't checked them out before look up Joe Bluhm :http://joebluhm.blogspot.com/ and Grigor http://existentialdreams.blogspot.com/ to see some live caricature work that will knock your socks off!!

    Take care,
    -Francis

goog: thanks, glad that site helped. Goodies hmmmm. try http://sevencamels.blogspot.com/ for some of the most in depth literature on art and the "science" of art, also http://illustrationart.blogspot.com/ for some amazing reads (from the editor of "Illustration" magazine)

Its been a while.....thanks to all those who still check back with these sporadic posts. The looooong image is some caricatures I did over the weekend. The character is something I'm especially proud of since 90% of it was done traditionally with ink, acrylic, and watercolors. This character is a first look into a HUGE project I am doing pre-production for. And to end it off we have another sketchbook page.

Some interesting things have been going on lately. My lack of an update is due to the fact that I am working on 3d modeling so I haven't had much time to do any sketching. The model is coming along but it's still not much to show...I'll put some progress shots up once I get some good stuff. I hope you enjoy some of the recent craziness I've been working on!

FuUUUUUUUCK! Just a found a new favorite artist! Your work is along the lines of where I want my stuff to end up. Please keep on updating! What are you using to put colour in your sketchbooks? (i know some of it is ps) Actually, could you give us a rundown on some of your fav tools for the job? I may have a shit load of other questions for ya after I digest your work more.

Haha, what a nice find, those caricatures made my day. I love how much life and expression you're able to put into the faces, not speaking of the almost perfect techniques. Stroke economy is awesome.

    Hey
It's always nice to see such loose sketches! They look cool
    And the caricatures are lovely
I'm really curious too see that model you're working on. Show it!
    And keep having fun now
