The Baby and the Monsters, oh my!/update 6/02/07 at bottom of thread

    Hi CA,

    It's been awhile,
Some of you guys have probably been wondering where the hell I've been. Well about 4 months ago something happened something profound and wonderous to me and my wife. An emotional, artistic and spiritual enlightment of the highest degree, and amazingly enough I didn't have to raise a single paint brush or wacom pen to make it happen.

I want to introduce you to Logan Targete.

As you can see he's taking the name Logan a bit to far, hell one eye is better then none right? it only hurts when I squint.

Below Logan's pic are recent works I've completed. I've been doing promotional art for a buddies website you can check it here DEAN LOREY . Dean is a good friend and an acomplished screen writer. His first novel "Nightmare Academy" will be published by Harper Collins in September 2007 and he sold the movie rights to Universal studios with Bob Ducsay and Stephen Sommers (THE MUMMY, THE MUMMY RETURNS, VAN HELSING) as producers. The creatures I designed are more on the whimsical side and was a little bit of a departure for me since I love the more darker and realistic stuff, but still these were fun. The hag with the sothern bell dress is my fav it reminds me of Coro in some melancholy way dunno why, miss ya lil bro . Also below are various game box art and personal concepts I've been messing around with. The bluish Mutant Chronicles painting of the battle scene was done in oils with minor digital touch ups here and there.

    enjoy,

    JP

Really nice work Targete!!! What kind of paper is that first drawing on? canson? and may I ask what type of pencils you used? The Mutant Chronicles oil painting is amazing!! I love your traditional oil paintings!! They are so intricate and bad ass! post some more when you can! even if they are just sketches or studies!

I lmao when I saw your kid with the wolverine claws ahahaha funny stuff!!

    THanks all

Thanks for the comments guys as you can I'm a prod dad, feels weird being a dad and a big kid at the same time, I'll have some more stuff to post shortly bu it will need to be cleared by the publisher. Also I'll be working on a conan board game box cover, should be fun big epic battle scene and what not.

    Elwell,
Thanks man the kid is the highlight of my portfolio

Yep you will be surprised what a one eye man can do.

    jrr,
    thanks dude

    Unbreakable,
    much appreciated thanks

    Lone Wolf,
ha ha I never left, just had nothing to show

    fukifino,
I appreciate the thoughts man, Logan definately gets the good looks from his mom, but he's all barbarian like daddy

    stalsby,
thanks for the questions. I did the drawing on epson artist velvet paper. I toned the paper in photoshop then did the drawing on top and added highlights with white prisma color and acrylic white for the small highlights. Pencils I used were standard b's and hb's etc and also black prisma coloring pencil. That oil was my first since I left my video game gig in october so more to come.

    Bowlin,
    thanks man much appreciated,

    jabraniho,
Yo Jung!!! how are you man? miss you alot dude, shoot me a PM and we can talk.

    Uziel,
thanks so much, the dvd was a labor of love, really happy its been helpful. I might do an oil painting one.

    asoir,
    thanks!

    tarrzan,
great name, and thanks glad you dug the dvd, check out the image of tarzan below.

    Massikka,
awesome glad you liked te dvd.

    vigostar,
    thanks you very much

    Eric Gerhard,
    a fan? sweet! thank you

    stephen,
hey dude thanks, and you know it's all behind us dude, I really like the work you have been doing and you kick may ass at life painting may I take some lessons?. Have fun in Europe dude.

    below are some more pieces.

The apeman ones are digital, the rough bluish one was done at the 2nd street workshiop in San Diego hosted by Ron and Venessa Lemen we had a blast and ate alot at Dennys.

The really overly colorful one with the indian and child was a one day acrylic painting done on canvas for my son, it's kinda sentimental hopefully he will dig it once he knows what it's about. It's about a small kid who loves fishing and searches for his roots and ends up going on the adventure of his life. He meets up with this Arawak indian from the past who befriends him and kicks ass. Look for a graphic novel of this one someday from me.

    enjoy,

    JP

    a) the baby's precious you even got the same haircut big congrats there.
    b) paintings are superb. for some reason the one that strikes me most is the "barrakus" piece. i'm still trying to figure out how you're managing to blend the pencils and digital colours so well, without making it look really "computer-ish". (struggle with that myself) it's as if you magically knew where to set opaque colour and where not. i admire it greatly.
other piece i really like is the second tarzan one,the mood is just striking. feels like early morning, don't know,i just love it.
nice to hear from you again, cheers.
