Welcome to CA! Great start to your first sketchbook. Your painting is pretty good, I am still a pencil artist and have not took the leap to paint yet, so I have no critique for ya. Other talented artists can help ya though. Kepp up the good work!

Just because your title included the words 'apple' and 'pie', I had to check it out

Nice stuff you've got going here, can't wait to see more.

    yo dude

I might consider trying to think more about how planes are put together to make form, a lot of the forms here come across (to me) as being flat, in your color work. Instead of light being recieved most directly at one point, and slowly wrapping around into shadow, I feel like a lot of your objects are receiving a very uniform and unconvincing amount of light. I like to think of forms i'm rendering as just modified cylinders, spheres, and cubes. Hope thats some kind of help. I do like your linear stuff, i'd be curious to see how you would treat form with just shapes of black and white. No lines, and no value gradations, just form with black and white- I'd recommend spending some time, (like, 30 minutes a day) doing this to really grasp planes of light and shadow on very simplified level, and extrapolate from there.

    Hey McLean,

Thanks for your feedback - I agree with what you are saying and I will attempt what you have suggested. I have a "bad habit" of simplifying my light source and lines due to my cartoonist background. I am making a deliberate effort to make better use of complex lines and and shape.

    Good points made. . cheers

    Thanks Jay_Gunz
