My first thread here ever

Not really sure what to say this time, except that I've seen tons of great art here, and I'm really happy I found this site!!

I'll start posting some of my recent artwork that was intended as a comic book at the beginning, but as it progressed, I realised it was turning into a bunch of illustrations, because I couldn't stop myself from adding details...which is all right, except that I really wanted to tell a story...but maybe this will work too .

Thanks for the compliments everybody, I really appreciate them , and thanks for welcoming me...I'll check out your sections in a few minutes

Glottis, this is actually a Holy Oak, not Yggdrasill, but you're close The giant with a white beard is Perun, Slavic God of thunder...which is a Slavic version of Thor, of course

Well, the rest of the comic book is still in progress, and this is actually a part taken out from the middle of the script, where the bad guys do serious harm for the first time...so sorry everyone who was hoping to see what happens next, this is as far as I got to much work stuff going on... All I can tell you is that the shining rock gets stolen, and things go downhill for those youngsters there...at least for a while...but like someone said, a picture speaks a thousand words, so I'll post something as soon as it's ready

For a while, I was thinking of going digital with the comic, due to the fact it's faster and less messy, so I was wondering how this looks to you all...this is the beginning of the comic:







But to continue with watercolors, which is my favourite technique, here's an ilustration of Oisin and Niamh, done for a fairy tale book...

Wow! Really nice, really like the first one! Is it availabe for purchase? Sometimes the eyes look a bit too big but I guess thats part of the characters. Really nice in any case.

i really like your work, the coloring and the faces are very unique

the only critic i have is about the font you are using in the finished pages..
its looks dull and does not fit to your well crafted pictures.
try using something more "real" .. something that looks more handwritten (maybe make your own font out of your writing style)

and show some sketches please!

By the way Andreas, that's a great idea...I'll definitely create a font once it gets to that phase...! I began a new thread with some sketches from this comic (link below), so you can check it out if you'd like...

Here's some more finished stuff...these are oil paintings from school. I love oils, except that they're messier than Corel Painter, so I tend to use them less nowadays also, I remember the "dopey" feeling I got after I leave the studio and head back home (which was really cool actually )...after a full day of inhaling terpentine fumes...

We had sitters all the time, even for sittings which lasted for a couple of weeks, so it was actually tough on them...

After I took photos, I played around in ps with a couple of self portraits, just to see what would happen if I took the idea further....

Sorry for taking so long to reply, too much going on...well, it took at least 3 days of work, with ocassional lunch breaks...

Here's the latest, a cover for a local HM band, done in guache. I'm proud to say, once again, that it's finally finished, and it took a lot longer than three days...actually, it's gouache & watercolor & digital combined...all that's missing is a logo, which will be added digitally. Comments are welcome

The script is still uncomplete, and it keeps getting changed here and there...but I will post it as soon as it's ready...
