    tablet drawing

    Hello everybody,

I'm new to painter, digital painting and concept art and I just have a question - when watching Ryan Church etc gnomon dvd's, they always have these clean crisp line drawings, which for the life of me I can't achieve (find tablet surfaces too "slippy" - nothing like paper) anybody got any pointers or things that I might try to help me around this, or is it just one of those things that I'm going to have to learn the hard way (like anatomy)?

    thanks for your time!

    jack

I have the same problem, some times, even to do simple circle ihave to make a lot of lines.
I think we´ll have to try and try until we get better.

    Hi jack,

Practice will be your best friend, but if you find the tablet surface too slippery, you might try this:

Tape a piece of drawing paper down over your tablet surface.

Some artists say, though it can wear down the stylus nib faster, they like drawing on paper better as it gives them a more familiar feeling.

No doubt others will have more tips for you but I hope that helps a little. It's a low-cost solution, at least.

    Hi,

We need a conversion chart! Here in the U.S., we measure the tablet working area in inches so I don't know what A5 equates to.

In any case, I doubt it's "bad" to work with any size tablet. It depends on what you feel comfortable using and what you can afford.

A few years back, I bought an Intuos 2 - 9 x 12 inch tablet and returned it because it was too large for the available space on my desk.

I exchanged it for an Intuos 2 - 6 x 8 inch tablet and that's perfect for me. It's also the most popular size from what I've read in forums around the Painter community over the years.

Where's that conversion table when we need it?

OK, so we can communicate better, here's something that should help:

InkJet Art.com - Weights and Sizes of Papers - U.S. and Metric
