Cow The Moon Has Lost Her Way - Lost Luna's sketchbook

Hello everyone , I'm new here.
I have been lurking this forum for a while and decided to post soem of my own stuff.
I am a 22 year old self-taught artist , who works a an assistant nurse in a nursing home. Art is my passion , but I really doubt I'll be a professional in any way. Art is just a hobby currently for me.

I'll start out with a few older sketches.

    Something i did years ago.

This faerie is more recent , done about 6 months ago.

done yesterday with sharpies in about 15 min.

done a week ago , but i really messed up the pen markings... and her hands also

done in photoshop ith a tablet

some anime fan art i did

    Ok I know I need improvement, but I'm practicing , I promise!
I think one of my issues is I draw a litle TOO fast
I just have an image in my head that I'm afraid to lose , so try to draw it but i dont usually end up with what i want

So tell me what you think , and dont be afraid to critisize. IM not that sensitive

Okay, somebody's going to say it, I might as well be the first....
I'm not dissing you, and I can see the possibilities, but you need to draw from life as much as you can. You'll be amazed what it can teach you.....

    Hello and welcome
alesoun is right, draw from life and try to really understand it, it will help you improve a lot.
Be carefull not to get stuck in a generic anime style, not that there's anything wrong with anime in itself, it's just that there's a lot of people starting out doing this and often tend to get stuck doing the same type of characters over and over again because it's almost something they programmed themselves to do and often their characters are anatomically completely of.
The same problem is showing in your anime fan-art girls, the head is very awkwardly placed on the neck (although you did it right in the fairy drawing). If you would look at it from the side, her head would have a sort of ET like shape.
Drawing from life and studying anatomy etc will help you develope the skills you need to make believable characters, even if you choose to draw manga or anime eventually. Take a look around here and you'll notice some amazing artists who developed their own anime style, but started out studying realism.

That being said, I think the fairies (both the pen and pencil drawing) look quite nice actually and the tree is defenitely your strongest drawing.
You made a really good move coming to this place and starting a sketchbook, now go draw and keep updating!

Hello, nice start to your sketchbook! I think my favorites would be the fairy and the tree in the first post. The tree sort of reminds me of that forest in Nightmare before Christmas

Well I'm not 100% sure since I don't have the original photo but it looks like the right side of the jaw is a bit off in your SP. Also if you would use more dark values it would really help out, just pump up the contrast!

    Good work, keep it up!
