digi expermiment.
Realy coming along in leaps and bounds!! Its cool to watch someone improvekeep it up!
self portrait. Accurate but once again it has that funnydrawing face I do haha.
quick character sketch from my head. Neck anatomy is fucked. too many midtones. Still, I like it.
Nice sketchbook, lots of good anatomy and portrait drawings with your portraits try to rendering with the direction of the form if you can. From looking at the the last portrait you did, Its obvious that you can see, but to make your drawings work more, try and tighten up your form. looking at this last drawing you nailed all the problems I see with it. neck is a bit strange like you said, just looking at the posture, things seem to be off with what your character is doing. his head seems to be stiff but it looks like he's blowing smoke from his lips making it seem he's relax. The rendering with the pants and of his body are the same, you could push the pants to be darker. very nice sketchbook. Keep up the hard work. and thanks for stopping in my sketchbook.
dang man your rendering has gotten better the nose and the eyes look great but the lips and ears arent so hot, keep it up man you are really taking some great steps here bro
thanks guys I'll bear that stuff in mind. I'll probably end up doing another self portrait tonight or something similar so I can focus on those problem areas. I would do one now but unfortunately, I'm back in school.
cheers for the crits and encouragement.
like your self portrait. try to make the mouth a little wider with less of a defined line and maybe add some specular to the eyes and darker shadows to really make it pop.
cut me. i bleed paint.
nother self portrait. Yeah, etharal I'll try to do that. don't know if I did it with this one cos I read your comment after I finished it. Oh and yeah, this was trying to hatch with the form of the shape.
Unfinished crap. May or may not finish it, probs will.
Yay! Your eyes 'n' lips are improving, as of this last self-portrait!
Another thing to watch for -- a lot of your figures are 'floating'; you might need to pay more attention to foot placement, so it looks like they're really standing and supporting their own weight...
Really cool watchin' your progress, sir... carry on![]()
Look, see! Nifty art!http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=99803
Hey! Check out my blog here
Quick colouring experiment. Not realistic but it looks pretty cool.
sketches are looking good bro, just make sure to use a specific lightsource, and also dont feel the need to fill the page in gray, try some direct lighting or something to get the forms to really pop out, like amontillado said
keep it up bro
Something I noticed in your drawings is the line quality. Lines go through varied darkness and lightness and widths through out the outline. The different thicknesses are created with different pressure. It's like if you stroke a path on photoshop with pen pressure. Just something to keep in mind,
Jake
fuck. I wish I was on the same track as you wen I was 14. Man all I ever did then was the occasional dragon ball Z character. And didn't even think I liked art. Keep your focus and go at it hard. Your gonna kick mega ass one day.
That means a lot OBX. Thanks.
Dig The Ex. The Self Pix Is Off The Hook![]()
Cheers Grandmassa, whats the ex?
Hands. Dile was challenging me to do 100 but after an hour and a bit 31 seemed okay for today lol. I'll do some more some time and I'm gonna do some feet tommorow.
Edit: Showing it bigger shows why I need to work on my line quality.
Damn, down to three stars. I mean, I'm fine with the rating, I'm only 14 and my thread doesn't compare to some of the other four star threads, it woul just be nice if the people that visit my sketchbook and just downgrade my thread, would at least post and tell me why so I have something to work on. That way, I can improve. Like I said its not the stars, just want a good critique.
Anyway here's tonight thing. I know I should be doing some stuff from life and reff but I was realy tired and this is all I produced.
looks good bro, especially the hands, but keep in mind that if you are trying to be convincing in the way you portrait your drawings, that there are few actual lines in reality, so make sure that you try not to outline your muscles and stuff, rather emphasize it with tone changes
but thats just my two cents and thanks for posting in my book mate ill see you around bro

Looks a lot like my sketchbooks when I was 14, getting old @23 now. Dude before me said it, watch those hard lines outlining muscles and features. Took me a while to break out of that habit myself. Use implied lines, as in, if you can get away with 3 lines for a bicep don't have 15. Give it a shot.
Other than that, keep chuggin man![]()
hey spazazo,
I'm around your age and its good to see some top quailty work coming from some of the sites teenagers. Keep up the good work!
some digi practice. Thanks everyone for the comments. I've decided that three stars isnt a bad rating and It gives me something to work for.
Okay as for the digi stuff the eye from reference truned out pretty cool and the self portrait I didn't finish as it wasn't going so well.
Hey!!Some good stuff here!!!But one thing,if you spend your time doing studies, then apply them!!Look at that hands study..have you applied it in your next pic,the one who is holding the stick?Nope! Why don´t!!???Studies are to improve,to be applied in your everyday work!So keep working hard, private!!!!!Hahahaa
By the way, don´t be worried about the stars,is not something objective. Many people,as myself, have 4 stars...and lots of them are way better than me!!You had four stars but...Mike Corriero, for example, has only one star more...hummm....it´s not very fair! You are just 14,and your level is very high!so think about what you are gonna do when you are 23!!!!Think about it and keep drawing more and more and more!!!!You are on the right way!
Yeah thanks Camara, thats my problem, I don't seem to apply my studies very well. Makes me think I should do more. Anyway here is the finished portrait. Looks like me, so, its fine for now. ont know why I posted the last version it was rubbish. Still too muddy![]()
I actually liked your sp more before you rendered it more, I think maybe you put too much detail into it and maybe made it too busy. Youre on the right track though, more more more! faster faster faster! I know you can get there dude!

haha yeaah. Problem is it doesn't look like me in the first version.
tham man ... you sure work hard .. try to get more study of the proportions ... this is all for now
cheers...
the shape and form in those hand studies are great! Have you tried working more economically with your lines? Using one well placed line of varying width and darkness (rather scratching away trying to eventually create the right line) can really emphasise the weight and curves of an object, something that is important in objects as complex as hands!
As for applying things that you have learnt in your studies to other drawings, it seems like you could do with loosening up a little bit - I've noticed that you seem to spend quite a while on your drawings, whereas your studies seem more spontaneous and relaxed.. maybe you could try working on some quicker drawings? The final result may not be as refined, but chances are you will learn something that you can later apply to your finished work
Keep going!
