DAMN. It's so wild to see how much you've improved in just 3-ish years. Keep it going!

impressive patient mate...
I agree with this as well. Also, congratulations on being accepted! And thank you for being a shining beacon of hope to all us young(er) artists here on CA.Originally Posted by Mihail

dude miles omg... i have to agree with you, painting smooth edges with acrylics is such a challenge and i commend you for doing such a good job at it!! you really gotta paint fast to blend smoothly eh? anyway, the digital is looking nice and I would probably have to agree with Jesus Food as well about the situation of the girl's position in the latest digital.
i'm really proud of you for the atelier acceptance too! ^-^

didn't say congratulations before, so congratulations! that's quite something for you right? I would be really excited srsly!
Love the super-sharp edges and the great colors. Leaving the conort zones is way to difficult, perhaps there's a reason why one always came back to the safe ground. I think that we tend to go to what's safe in what issue while testing something new in a different area. In any case, you're super pro.
Hello MILES!
Great studies! I see you are particularly interested in portraits! They are really well done... Cheers and .... CONGRATULATIONS for Sweden! Keep drawing brother... this is the life!

Man, really great stuff.
Cheers.![]()
Update! Hopefully I will get this much more regular. I know I've said it a hundred times before, but somehow I feel more committed this time around. I've been getting super excited about art again over this last week, not just the possibilities for next year, but the realization and the implications that I can actually be doing this as a career. I wanna get back into regular studying and updating, plus I'm thinking of starting a sketchbook up over on CGhub as well. Speaking of which please Check out my profile and gallery, looking to promote it a little better.
Sooo,
another update on that last painting, messed up a few areas in terms of overall values, but I think it's come along a lot since the last post (certainly had enough time).
A strange thing I made in college, mixture of cut up tissue paper, ink, and badly done acrylics with pencils.
Studies from today and yesterday, these were pretty quick
Take care!
Your WIP is nicely painted. Colours and brushwork are looking nice.
It seems like you are looking for crit, and the things which keep shouting at me are:
The story doesn't make sense. If it makes sense to you, then try to make it more obvious. Mountaineers. Explorers? Pirates? What are the two characters connection?
I'm also realising that although I like it, it has a similar colour scheme to several other of your works.
I find the way that the guy is holding the binoculars to be pretty awkward. Imagine that you are using them, how would you be holding them when you take them away from your face?
As I said though, I am really liking where it is going.
great.... awesome.... stufff man ....keep going... !

Scary how much this reminds me of Wes. Dope shit, bro.
nice work, it's well done![]()
yay awesome forms
Miles man those studies are goooorgeous.
The latest figure drawings are beautiful! Lovely lines, and I like the softnessof the digital study. More of those please!
You are just crazy. No further comments are needed.
i like that monochrome study of the girl....so soft and also sharp edged ...![]()
figures are brilliant, super cleannn
and i love how your slaughtered samc! haha i thought it was a photo edit of the original one but yaaaah cool stuff bro! keep going![]()
ooh the last color piece is so warm that it creates a fizzy feeling in my feet!

soooo ive skimmed through your sketchbook a couple times but ive never commented. you get this A LOT, but goddamn your a monster for your age. i wish i found out about CA sooner, then i might not have so much catching up to do! im about half a year older than you and youre whoopin my ass pretty bad haha. but you, algen, and a bunch of other people are gettin me motivated as hell, so im bustin my ass to get up there with you guys
congrats on gettin into that atelier! i checked out that link and it said only 24 people get in at a time? O_o crazy!
anyways, like i said, awesome stuff. keep on rockin man, ill be chasin yacheers!

oh, and i like your study pace: doing a bunch of studies and then a finished illustration every week or so. i think im gonna start doing that![]()
Looks great man, it's been pretty crazy watching you progress for the past two and a half years or so that I've been on CA.
As some others would say the only crit I have is story wise. What's going on in the picture is a little vague and the guy's pose is somewhat confusing in terms of what he's doing/feeling.
But other than that it looks awesome. Your rendering skills are getting crazy.
Do you have any go-to brushes that you could reccomend? Particularly ones you used on the clouds + skin in that last piece
You should consider making a tutorial sometime. You clearly inspire enough people to earn a fair buck from downloads![]()
Thanks guys!
To answer Sulphurs question it's essentially all round brush, mixing both hard and soft, and using a soft round eraser to mix up the edges.
To keep with my new policy of updating regularly, here are a couple of studies, I'll scan stuff and post the wip again when it's had more work
An environment study because I suck at them! Working on using brushes more cleverly, think I picked up a few tricks
Some quicker value studies from screencaps,
Cheers, more soon!
oooooooooh aaaaaaaaaaaaah.
Love the studies. I think its really cool that you use primarily round brush for everything. in the end it really will make you a stronger painter. You wont be like the artists out there who use texture and fx brushes as a crutch.
great updates man! the landscape looks awesome too! keep em rollin in duder!!!!!!!
