YES! Okay, Now my scanner is working crappily but consistently and I'm now attending art school, I CAN START A REAL SKETCHBOOK THREAD.
As a project I'll be starting a web comic (gags to start) at my site, http://www.sciboy.com

To get things started is a doodle from today, and tomorrow I'll be spending the day studying Loomis, I still don't have the hang of construction so that'll be my main focus.

Well crap, plans went out the window when my family needed me to move furniture, at least I'm getting an early night for art school tomorrow.
I'll continue these friday until I have it down properly.

Okay I didn't get the Loomis studies done as planned, I ended up working out a totally new schedule for me to develop a habit of and it demanded I get things like laundry etc. done immediately, still got in more posemaniacs stuff though.

All of these images are coming directly from the scanner at 50dpi, white space included.
Towards the end I decided to focus more on negative shapes.

Loomis Studies

hey sciboy
I like the gestures but I see a few problems consistently.
The head to figure size( sometimes it looks like they have a small head or vice versa)
If you have the loomis "figure drawing for all its worth book, I recommend that more than bridgeman(because he makes all his figures really buff)
Cant wait to see the life drawing, try some different media's as well,,charcoal,pen,pastel markers etc.
Imo, learning to draw a figure with different media's opens up new ways of visualising it from your head.

Thanks for the feedback, these are just copies of the diagrams from Loomis's book, and yeah I can see my proportions are off, but at the moment there's so much else I'm not getting that it has been the least of my concerns, I'll be sure to get onto it though after I get a better feel for this construction over all.

And as a side-note, I've got a nasty habit of not visualising in my head AT ALL, I kinda flaunt the fact that I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing with the alien stuff but in other departments it's biting me in my ass, I'm trying to address that but I'm a little clueless as to how.

Haven't sorted the watercolours out yet, my dad is going to help me build a frame because the clips just tear through the paper right now.
Meanwhile I'm trying to cut back on the crap and fill in with some proper studies.

I think this one the best. Is that watercolor? The contrast makes it really pop out. I was thinking instead of doing one per one gesture on a single page one not just play around with the composition and place collage of figure drawings. Just my two cents.

Heh, I was just waiting for someone to ask where the compositions were.
Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately though, with 3 minutes to get what I see down, I don't think there's much space for me to apply compositions in that department, at least not at this stage.
I will how ever take that to heart and start getting some proper scenes in here with my longer studies and creative work.

That is watercolor, gotten some what obsessed with my waterbrushes lately, although my big issue is not thinking before I draw, I still doodle everything.

Whoa sci, you've been busy.
A vast improvement in the last few months. You're finally beginning to draw as you see. I'd love to see you a lil more confident with your lines, but man, keep it up!!

hey hey hey, slow down man, You draw a few lines on every page and then move on ? Those gestures are fine, but fill the pages , save some bandwidth or something, Update 15 and 16 is really scary, its like 40 papers and at most 200 lines, take your time man, You are rushing like mad right now, and not enough with that you are rushing, you don't even care about the result, You just scribble until you see something that looks , or might look like a human ?

Slow down, really, I know that from our sketcher session that you draw very fast, its no way you can see or think of what you gonna draw with that speed.

Slow down , fill those pages , its no competition about how many pages you can fill in 20 seconds, is it ? You will learn plenty more if you take your time and concentrate on every sketch, You won't learn a lot from doing those rushed scribbles, I don't think you will learn anything at all , maybe you improve your figure a little, but if so, that would take a lot of fast-scribbles to even move a little in the right direction.

The last pages are better, but you still seem to stop after half the sketch to move on to another one, finish it as a sketch at least!

Also draw bigger, you will probably learn how to draw small faces by drawing them big at the studying stage, its easy , really easy to make something look like a face when the face is smaller then a thumbnail. The brain helps you to fill in etc.. Its way harder to make a face in real life size etc, Use your whole a4 pad , and when you study, draw big and take your time.

I'm sorry if this sounds to harsh or anything, but I really felt that I needed to tell you my opinion since I think it will help you in the long run to slow down.

Dile: Valid advice, although I think you might've missed the fact that most of those updates are from the saturday class, where largely we only have 1 to 3 minutes for the life drawing in order to reinforce better habits on how we start them.

The reason the latest ones are a little better is because I'm slowly starting to get the hang of it.
