Updates on last page!

Hi guys, I'm a newbie around here.
Hope you like my drawings. I did them a while ago as concept and character drawings for an aborted amateur comic book project.
Anyway - this is a start - I haven't drawn for a while, but this website seems to be a great place to get back into it again!

I like the drawings a lot, and the sweet looking guy is my fav so far.
I'm not the best to get crits from seeming I gotta learn a lot myself so I'll leave the Killing (<--pure horror I know) to the others.

Wonderful. =) Did you use reference? They're nice to look at, although imo, that 4th image could be well improved if you'd change the facial expression; you could make it really mad or whatever, make it more lively?

Oh, and you could also add more shades in the faces to make it more dramatic.

Edit: Spend extra time on the face. As far as I know, a person will (always?) look at the eyes and face before anything. A bad face can ruin a painting, a good one can make up for a lot.

I actually tried to draw a new face.. hope you like it. It still doesn't have the dramatic expression I wanted to tell you about, but I'm not that good of an artist..

silarvalla - thanks, I like to play with different line widths as though I'm inking.
Vigilandus - thanks dude - those drawings are old, but as far as I can remember, I only used reference for the weapons and so on - not for the figure or faces if that's what you mean. I think I agree with you about making faces more interesting - dunno if your adjustment does it for me, though haha

maybe something other than shouting?- I think I was trying to give her an unusual face, but I don't know if it worked. I think she should look up at the monkey, irritated, like "I have no idea what you're pointing at".

Here's some of my older work:
1 - Some fasion design for a character of mine.
2 - A drawing for a painting that my wife still wants me to finish.
3 - An old birthday card for for my other half.
4 - I really should colour this one...

That last piece simply ownz. I like everything about it. Not gonna complete the drake's shadow...? =( It would make poster material.

Awesome line-art work in here, really really like what I see. Showing the process of how you are doing that one gal is cool, can't wait to see it all the way done. It would be really cool to see some of this stuff colored though... thats all I can think to critique... that and maybe when showing your sketches try to use the levels to grey the background so it is a little easier on the viewers eyes... great stuff... can't wait to see more.

Hi guys - thanks for the great comments.
This site has given me so much inspiration - I never knew you could paint so cool in photoshop - sorry I'm old school

I want to start doing some digital painting, so I dug out my old Wacom A5 tablet and dusted it off. At first I thought it would be useless, but then I read a tutorial on CA, and I did this apple - it's my first go at digital painting, but I'm so converted - this rules!
I looked for a good place to post it for some good feedback on photoshop painting, but this thread seems good. What do you guys think?

PunkBoyLeech - thanks! - I actually think I will tone down the white on sketches in future.

That apple rocks man... I envy you. I never could get the hang of photoshop but it seems that you are already in the swing of things, nice job!

Your concepts are really awesome. They all are very interesting. The one thing I can see has already been mentioned- that girls face in the first post looks a little off. But your other humans have good faces so I guess it was a fluke?

Favorites would be the Dragon and your avatar. Keep up the good work!

befok dude! ek voel heeltemal soos n punkass bitch wat met houtskool teen rotsmure teken.. oh sorry i should probably write htis in english for the other folks around these parts... (what i said was, me and deon go way back, i feel like a punkass bitch who is still trying to doodle on cavewalls with a pice of charcoal) we did art together, he kept on improving, i kept on sucking. hahaha!!

Suggest shading with the flat end of your lead. Don't leave much space between strokes and concentrate on how highlights have influence on the value of other parts. Loomis page on this subject: http://www.wataaah.com/images/ca/loomispage81.jpg

OK, I haven't posted here for like a year, but I am back and keen to start drawing again.
I'm so out of it that I decided to start following Mike Corriero's community mentoring to get back into the swing of things.

I just did this sketch in lunchtime in about 20 minutes.

It felt like I was drawing with thin charcoal, but I guess I still have to get used to some settings.

You have some really cute character designs!
It seems like your drawing without much underdrawing or shape and not very loose lines, but rather outlining.
I think that some gestures with time limits would be good practice for you C:
