ok sketch update here before i start an oil painting of my sister...

first off i got a new tattoo today in memory of her, her name, and (hopefully) the correct symbol for spirit...so heres a picture of that!


heres some stuff from the sketchbook, and a head of a creature concept I may actually do a whole body for him, caus i like the head so far!
some are pencil like the creature, some have some marker in em, and alot of them are pen... enjoy!



most are really quick... cept the last one, and one page is quickkk sketches based on other artists... i know this update isnt much, but ive been neglected the book, and i havent posted any sb stuff in a while!

P.S.S.S (hahaha) these pictures dont do any of the drawings any justice.. next paycheck im gonna go buy a goooood scanner, i dont care if i spend my whole check on it!

quick update with a WIP of an oil painting of my sister... when im done we are gonna raffle it off at the benefit we are having in order to raise money for her daughter (my niece)

any comments on this one would be great... I will add more WIPS and the finished painting prolly in a couple days!

BTW: if anyone stops by that has pictures of roses.. I NEED references of them, because im doin a rose decoration type thing around the portrait, have to improvise because I had to take someone out of the picture and plus, itll add to the painting I think! THANK YOU!!! (u can just upload the pictures in this book)

progress... sucks you cant see the real thing, workin on the hair first, then ill do her face, and then the rest of the other little doodads, this picture doesnt do any justice, at least imo the hair is turning out great, i am greatly suprised its coming out good so far, only my 3rd oil painting!!!

Markus, i would like to see you push your line confidence it could really help you improve your drawings. Looking at this page of drawings I can see you repeat your self a lot, The same generic eyes, and heads in 3/4th view change it up and draw heads in every direction, and angle. Really push your self, challenge your knowledge of human anatomy. Make people fight, interact with each other. Have fun over all, keep at it man.

really cool stuff in here, mate! the main problems I see in your paintings are your colors and your edges. try to keep your value patterns clean and simple, your values quite often tend to get a bit muddy and blurr into each other, what makes the rendering quite hard to read.
The "edge-problem" goes kinda together with your values. you seem to blend your colors and values the same way over and over again, try to vary the quality of your edges from "hard edge" to "blurred" edge. Right now your are almost only using this "middle,hard" edge to blend your stuff, exept your more experimental stuff.

Ok, I understand that I am not really posting any finished work lately, but lately I have been finishing stuff, however its all in my real sketchbook, and lack of scanner, im really too lazy to take pictures (they look horrible anyways) So tonight after work, I will look for my scanner and try and find the cables... so you will have a traditional update VERY soon. Also I am starting a project, I am not discussing details yet, but I have started a few things for it already. Here is one little thing for the project I am working on now, I understand that there are 2 drawings, and both are unfinished, I am doing this nowadays in order to keep me interested. there will most likely be a 3rd head like these other 2, which I havent started yet, however I plan on finished all 3 by the time I go to sleep tonight, (mostly working on it after work) Hope you enjoy my art from this point foreward because I will be drawing intenstly, and I truely hope it pays off. Comments and crits always welcomed!!!



On a side note, I noticed I dont reply much, after this post any comments and/or critiques WILL be answered, sorry for being soo damn lazy. ( turning point in my life!!! )

ok heres an update on the heads, taking me longer than I thought and theres alot I dont like about em, but im just gonna finish em anyways just for the reason of finishing what i start. next art i do i will limit myself to a time and see how finished i can get it to look within that time limit.

since I wasnt liking what was going on with them heads, i started to put a bunch of textures in, and workin with photoshop as my friend for a change... wasnt sure what was going to happen, im not used to using textures and whatnot, but I really think it was a turning point in my digital art career! Of course not all my art is gonna have textures, and the ones that do prolly wont have this much, but I feel IMO that it looke 10x better than before. I still have alot of work to do to the face, ive hardly touched it,but I figure since I draw so many faces, it would be the easiest for me to finish, so hopefully by the end of today, I will have this face finished at least. BTW, I will also be updating with some traditional work, and possibly digital sketches later.... just really want to focus on this feller for now! FEEDBACK WELCOMED!!! CHEERS!

That WIP looks niiiice. I really like the texture on the suit. I suppose you're working on those final details. It could be nice to see some body attached to your design as well.

Lakka: Thanks! I have a hard time seeing my progress, until I measure up things like a year apart.. But once I do, im really excited... Still... I need to start doing studies again, anatomy especially... I still feel really lazy, so once I get on the ball with that, ill feel better.
