This stuff is great! Had to stare for a bit, it took awhile for me to take everything in. 5 stars for you.
Rad sketchbook! Not only are your drawing and studies bad as hell, but the composition of the pages is awesome too. I'm really digging the robot design in the "Inventor and Child" piece. It's got a retro/victorian feel that's pretty fresh.

Thank you very much!
Here's another sparse update. Let us hope I can finally pick up the pace and keep the updates more regular.
Today's episode features a bit of fooling around, followed by two pages of life drawings, followed by some digital stuff and ends with my grand entry into the elysium project with the steamcoach.
A few points of interest concerning the coach:
The driver must be well strapped in lest he risk with serious body injury when breaking. The more perceptive of you will perhaps notice the lack of a wheel and might ask how would one guide this contraption? Well, see, there are these two levers at the sides which act as your guiding system. You squeeze the left one to tern left, much like you would press a button to turn left in any video game with cars. There's also a handbrake for taking some sharper curves to perhaps impress the ladies.
Also! As I turned 20 a week back I am now a part of the twentysomething demographic. Makes me feel a little uneasy as it always is when surrounded by new things.
Wow, I'm speechless. Your drawings are brilliant! *new fan*Really, I love the pencil drawings...they are so deep and every piece has such a brilliant atmosphere! I am very impressed!

I'm really impressed by your black and white cartoons. Really great style. Can't believe you're only 20. Not fair.
You're onto a winner.

A cheerful day if there ever was one! I won a sort of a street drawing competition where the public called the shots on what to draw and who wins, I climbed the tournament right up to the first prize, an iPod nano, and claimed it for myself!
The first one is another of those demons collected up by that special secret Vatican organization trying to undermine that wonderful place known as hell. This one was a softy, a black sheep of the demonworld and switched sides on the premise of being called an angel. Indeed, it demanded to be called Angelus in binomial nomenclature. Dear sweet Angelus is most certainly a valuable asset in the ongoing covert operation against hell. Gotta catch 'em all!
the one made to look like an old photograph says "Tartu University Eugenics Department"
and the last one is a quick Mullins copy.
Great stuff man!
The black and white work and the sketches look excellent.
Cheers

Really great stuff. I enjoy all of your styles, b&w, sketch, color paint.
Who hasn't tried it yet, Portal was amazing. The entire Orange Box is probably the best thing that has ever happened to the PC.
Too bad there are so few companies out there trying to elevate the video game genre so it could indeed be called "art", on par with literature, painting, theater, cinema etc. Valve is pretty much the most interesting thing happening right now, as most rest of the industry keeps pumping out mediocre third person action games.
And oh god, EA got Bioware.
great! thats so cool... and weird lovely concepts. dont know what to say.
keep it up
ohhh man, awsome sketchbook, i loooove your pencils.

Just fell in love with you! Can't say more..
And if you got time, please visit my newly opened sketchbook thread, thank you.
thanks for the replies guys!
here's a bunch of stuff. mostly digital, a couple of oils and a few pencils in pretty much the exact opposite order.
Oh yes. I set up a studio of sorts at home (meaning I figured I can flip the mattress on its side so I have room to set stuff up) and now go about harassing friends to come model for me.. and honestly, painting with oils feels like I've gone blind, I'm a total mess at it from values to colours to edges. Mixing the right tone just fries my brain, not to mention trying to paint materials and textures. University painting courses here are nothing much to shout about either.
One thing about the first image, I know it's old, but for future reference: I think the background should stay in the background and not pop out due to contrast/saturation/colors,etc., unless you're purposely doing that for some odd effect. It's still a really solid drawing and very stylish too. I admire your skills with shadows and drapery, you really have a handle on them both, and that's impressive to someone who's just started studying them recently. Excellent stuff!
(Also, that red nose thing is getting cliché. I still don't get it-- does everyone here have sinus problems or something? Hahah, sorry, I don't mean to cramp your personal style, but I've seen it on a thousand different artists' pages, and I think you could distinguish yourself more. I know, I'm a geek for picking on something so trivial, haha.)
wow, man. great stuff! the pencils are what did it for me though...

eminkey2003: thanks for the advice! the infamous red nose, while quite cliché is grounded on reality though. and it's just one of those stylization options thats oh-so-tempting as it usually looks quite good and adds a little variation into the picture itself (though likens the painting to other ones). Another such stylization trick is the overt reddening of knees and fingers and elbows; while quite kitsch also has a lot of aesthetic potential when used wisely. I guess I should probably start being more selective of when to use it and when to tone it down. Though I do like the alcoholic feel it usually gives : )
ccsears: thank you! I'm honored you like my stuff, I'm a fan of yours
so! I started with a new sketchbook, #6 now. The theatrically titled "Lies and Deceit and Beautiful Slaughterers" doesn't quite have the rhythm in English but that's fine. I'm glad to have something comfortable to draw in again.
very nice work matei can see a lot of potential here
epic paints man.
don't have many crits.
maybe work on perspective more
your characters are pretty damn solid
