Great! No crits from me except the near edge of his right foot seems somehow too bulky. Still it could be just me and I trust you have it right and with the intructors in the Angel academy (assuming your still there) it can't be wrong .

Keep posting yor work. It's always great to see some atelier stuff although this kind of work only makes me wish that the summer was already over as I will be starting my own studies in Angel academy next september

Awesome piece you have here! If anything, I would say the overall tone is a bit too light. you have a very good atmosphere setting here, if it can tone down a little bit will be excellent!

hey, that is a famtastic piece great work acctualy looks very much like a b/w PHOTOGRAPH thats how good it is only crits would be the deltoid(big round-ish muscle on edge of shoulder) is a little bit too long, should be bit shorter and the foot he has on the floor looks kinda half done because half is coloured half isnt- how ever if that is due to a specific lighting effect obviously not worth doing anything to but other wise VERY VERY GOOD piece, asham i dont have patience for a 6 week piece lol.

J/k But a small tip that might get you through the bargues a lot faster: practise your drawing! (getting proportions right) That's the main slowing-down-factor and something you can start working on right now if you're not already anyway.

I would love to see work-in-progress shots! Man, I wish I could go to Italy to study at the Angel Academy, but I can't afford the housing costs. I'm thinking of going to the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto, instead, which used to be associated with Michael Angel.

What did you use for blending: stumps or tortillons?

Also, I know you guys have to keep your charcoal really sharp, but I find that when I use charcoal, the tip gets dull after about 10 seconds of use. Any tips? I just received some nitram charcoal that I ordered, but since each stick is like a dollar or two, I want to make it last.

Humbucker: hey there, let me see what I can do about the step by step thing, even though you seem to be the only one interested :] We use everything: brushes, stomps, sponges, pimped make-up tools.. experiment! I haven't found out what works best yet... Tools change with values, too - sponge is great for dark halftones, brush & point for lighter halftones, etc. - Yes we do sharpen them using "sandpads" - most people use those wooden kitchen boards you cut vegetables on -> stick sandpaper on it and you're ready to go As far as how long they last: most people here prepare a couple, say 3 HB's and 2 H's, maybe 1-2 B's so they last one sitting. It also depends on what you're doing, for laying in big areas like a background with B, there's no need to sharpen the things. Let me know when you post whatever you're doing!
