What i am doing here? should i leave? HELL NO!

    Welcome all,

My name is Liam Harvey and this is my sketchbook.

EDIT: my pictures seem to be irregularly large, so they might take a while to load. Sorry Ladies and Gents.

Nice Work Bro. You should really do a big piece, a battle perhaps with at least half a dozen guys beating the crap out of each other(like any of the lenil yu new avengers covers)

Oh and since it's ANZAC day(well it's ANZAC day as i post this) you should sketch up some designes for some Australian heros i made up just now,

Southern Cross - Team leader Mostly blue "ultimates Style" uniform with the styalised southern cross on his chest(this may cause him to look like Astro City's confessor) He will be A member of the australian Defense Force So I'm picturing Combat Boots and all the special forces equipment he can carry. Since He will be Australias premeir superhero Perhaps The full Australian Flag and Aboriginal Flag should be present, I'm thinking a repeating patern down the length of one arm or maybe printed on Knee and Elbow Pads. Headgear Is Up to You. As for weapons I was thinking a pair of Light weight energy gauntlets that could be fired at different strenghts(similar to Iron Man's Repulsar Technology) these gauntlets shouldnt be to bulky. Now get to work

RedBack - the Loner heavily inspired by Snake eyes, he will wear a red and black(well Duh) ninja suit with some Samurai influences and will carry an array of weapons(pretty much anything a ninja turtle would use, No pizza though). He is the last known member of the Sasaki Clan, A samurai Clan active in the pacific theatre of World War Two. following Japans Defeat the clan Relocated to Australia where the Devolved into a Terrorist Cell(like the Hand(Daredevil) or Foot(TMNT)) A previouse incarnation of Southern Cross(legacy Hero's are Fun) led a campaign against the Sasaki Clan, Destroying it compleatly in the early 90's, or so he thought. RedBack will not be dressed like a Sasaki Soldier his uniform will be more intricate and unique.

I have half a dozen more characters(hero's and Villains) that i thought up just know but i will give you a headstart on these first. Futre Characters include Convict, dreamtime and Huntsmen. Oh man I have never been this excited about a "project" Get sketching Fool.

    all right then.
    first post in a while.
here is my sketch drawing of "southern Cross", the Australian Superhero that Mindtaker ranted on about. (the hell does rant mean?)
so Mindtaker, you happy now? better be. yeah thats right. be afraid.
(or happy i guess) as well as testing some colouring and a wicked cool rake brush tool in painter X.

    Heya Gerbil Fetus!!

Thanks for stopping by my sb. You've got a good start here, tho maybe make some of the images a tad smaller... makes it hard to look at each piece as a whole (and that's saying a lot... I have a HUGE monitor!!)

I especially like the devil/demon guy in the first post, as well as the painted piece prior to that. Maybe post some figure studies next?

    Can't wait to see more.

A random bunch of sketches of my favourite Superhero, Spider-man(am i the only one who likes the simplicity of the black suit over that of the Red and blue suit?)

This one with the gun was a suggestion for a sketch by a friend, i love the way i felt "boosted" and energised when drawing it.I was going to enter it into the heavy gunner comp but scince i made it prior to that week, i skipped out(plus it was holidays)

THanks Glottis! great to know i'm doing something!

Here is a pic i had in my last S'book i mistakenly deleted(thus the creation of this one) I love it because it is very "complete" and i have a problem with not completing my stuff, and 'cause its one of my first pic done in Painter.

An attempt to come up with a design/complete picture, i like the way it turned out, chances are you may see more of this alien as i kept drawing them repeatedly and have many sketches of them littering my hardcopy(paper) s'books.

    some new

these are new ones done in Painter just for practice and boredom, i realise that the anatomy is way off and the proportions are skew-wiff but it was all in good fun as a break from homework.

Ello ello. Lots of cool and imaginative ideas in here. Being thats probably the most important thing to have, I'd say you're on the right track here.

Diggin the spideys the most though.

    old and wierd.......

thanks for the heads up there throtailer, good to get some crits/opinions!
    (yay!!!)
heres an old design done in boredom.
obviously old due to the very 2-d flat face and the stubb hand with block fingers, and absece of any feet what so ever.

Cool comic style, there is alot of energy and style put into these drawings, but I think that you would improve as an artist if you tried to branch out from your style and put your efforts to more realistic style.
That being said what you have done now looks great and it is neat to see the energy you put into this
keep it up mate and I will see you around

ps-if you want to post again I updated my SB a few times, and I would appreciate it

So far the no nuts guy and the werewolf transformantion are my favourite. Have you tried your hand at a little animation, play to your strengths maybe?

Aside form that, i tihnk your faces could do with some work, they last one looks a little flat. There is a Bridgeman PDF book on drawing heads on the net somewhere, it helped me alot.

Also its good to see that your starting to do some life drawing, probably the single most important thing to start up in the longrun.

    HI guys n' gals.
heres more from me, all done recently, so they are more propoptionatly acurate with how far developed at drawing i am.(unlike some of my others that are older pics)
The first two are my sketches for an unentered entry into the "Redesign your Hero" in which i focused on a WW2 era Spider-man.

y'know. I really do love peter parker as venom and they truly ruined him in the movie...not to say the movie is bad but yeah...the suit is really really awful

I like your experimentation and your fascination with werewolves. Now can I ask why is spiderman your fav?

My favorite pictures of yours are the werewolf transform one and the super mario. kudos. till next time.

spidey is my favourite i think because my first exposure to it was the 90's cartoon, which went for a while and explained everything, had cool villains and all that.
Looking back the show is not at all as well made as the batman animated series/ bruce timms animated universe.
Heah the film version of black spidey was alright, but the simplicity of the black one seems more suited to someone with spider abilities.(plus much easier to draw than the one with all the webbing )
    ChaoticKnight
Thanks! original aint it? i've always felt like im reusing poses , so to hear that is good news!
i'll keep working on the anatomy and rendering,i'm still trying to get used to colouring via wacom and i'm thinking aboout having ago at cel shading.
    BohemianChaos
Thanks you very much, i enjoy the simplicicty of that one!
glad to hear that your going to be posting soon too.

Yo, how about a few more life drawings? Get some sketches of your friends or something during lunch! It will help you immensely, and the more you do the better you get. :]
