    Finally getting it

<edit - in retrospect, this probably should have been in critiques -- edit>

I've tried for a few years... every once in a while. I never got the feel for painting in photoshop. I'm a 3ds person so painting in general is, well... I've got a lot to learn.

So I watched the Carlos Cabrera "watch and learn" where he painted the alien head. I've tried to follow along before, but never felt happy with it until yesterday.

    Here is my final result.

    details:
1.silly looking at best (giant floppy head)
    2.about 1 hour
3.finally got something felt solid to me. hopefully you guys know what I mean.

So, today I decided to actually try to paint something.
I have posted my process pics here.

this is really difficult for me as I have real problems with color. I'm fairly pleased with the result though.

ok, so color is kicking my ass. I'm pretty much ignoring the armor as I have no idea how to get the texture I want.

They look like they're really coming along. What exactly is "Watch and Learn?" I need a lot of help with PS also

Hey Caleb, I really like the colors and the lights in the armor in the last pic you posted. I'm glad you're finally getting a chance to play around with photoshop and paint more! I think this is coming along very nicely, if you work on it some more, post an update. So are you gonna make him slimy or shiny?

well, I thought it was done (as in not worth continuing with) but some of the critiques make me want to use it as a tool to learn more stuff.

    yeah interesting feel,
as far as a concept I think that there is some good potential here.

i'd say just keep pushing it!
instead of just a gray mass, i'd like to see more interesting detail going on in his armor.

    keep it up !

thanks tad. yeah, the armor is really just a big mass right now. maybe I'll extend the image to add to it.
