Hi there! I got accepted to this school on portfolio day and wasn't even considering this school as an option. For whatever reason I deemed that New York City's SVA is a better choice because it's in New York Freakin' City. But if I move to NY I have to deal w/ cold weather and overcrowded trains.

Obviously California seemed like my next choice considering that's the next "Art/Culture Mecca." ...or at least moreso than Florida.


The Illustration program boasts a pretty good looking portfolio and they encourage digital exploration in that major as well which is a huge plus.

Any thoughts as to whether or not this school is quality? My painting professor got his degree there and loved it..but that was like 35 yrs ago. LOL!

If you have financial constraints, NYC (I'm an ex New Yorker) is a very expensive city...

So is NY though so it defeats the purpose. I'm just into "better" weather. Or at least that's just what I hear. I don't think I'm eligible for scholarships. For one I missed the deadline. Hooray for no planning!

NYC=no earthquakes, very few hurricanes

I don't know anyone who's come out of CCA, but Dougald Stermer chairing the program is certainly a point in its favor.

I'm looking at this program too for potentially transferring there next year. I really like the stuff I'm seeing so far but it would ease my mind if some current students or grads would post about their experience. Or anyone's comments really would be a help.
