But no really, you just buy a slab of wood from a construction store and some tablelegs and voila.
i thought about putting something together myself, but i'm not sure how sturdy it'd be.

Yup. Get a door from your local home improvement store and a couple of sawhorses. I bought plastic, height-adjustable sawhorses that go from 31-37" and just put the door on top. Cost less than $100 for all of it. If you go for wooden sawhorses just cut to one length (which they'll do for you at the store if needed) you could do it for about $50-60.

The other two tables are folding tables from Office Depot or Office Max. They're about $50 depending on size and come in lengths up to 8 feet. The art table came from Jerry's artarama and cost about $150 including a chair, lamp, etc.

My setup shrank considerably. I will be buying a new desk and a nice chair in January. Its to close to christmas right now to do anything about it.

A lot of you guys just killed the myth about the starving artist because OMG!!!!

What do I have... let's see.... The bed and the floor... A crappy laptop... Wacom tablet where the drawing-surface is smaller than a size A5... Lots of art materials though, but workspace!? Bed and floor

Hey all, I'm new here. Thought this was a funny thread, so I start posting here with a picture of my corner. Draftboard is built by a thick manga book and a backplate from an japanese arcade cabinet.

Dont think you can call this a studio but its works
I have been meaning to go down the lumber store and build myself a desk but I dont know where to start...
The desk is basically a ironing board pulled up close to a guest room bed (the chair) so no back support which causes me to get up and stretch every 20 mins or so.
Mind the finger prints that reminded me I need to clean it more often.

Actually getting up and stretching is a huge plus for keeping the mind fresh. Thanks to you I will start to remember to do that.
