More studies.
Env thumbs coming up.

Some environment thumbs.

that bottom right one looks great.
Finished the linework of this environment. I'm waiting for my copic markers to arrive but I'm gonna try to put some value in photoshop in the meanwhile.
Without value the linework is very hard.

Putted down some value in photoshop.

Alright, my first speedpainting. Not sure how long I spend on it because I started over a couple of times but I guess maybe over an hour. Pretty happy with it actually. Any crits?

Very cool book <> 5 bones
post 69 and 70 are awsome. I believe those copic will do great on it. your speed paint is nice as well.
nice sb, in your thumbnails i see you are pretty loose. loose is off course no problem in a thumbnail, as long perspective is somewhat accurate. but i think some of yours will get you in trouble if you want to work one out big. thanks for the post in my sb btw, i know of my fengzhu addiction :0 i see you dig scott robertson hehe. i think its ok for now looking at other artists, as long as no copying is involved. they are both excellent teachers
i started my sb at the same time as yours, thats coincidence! another coincidence: i come from the netherlands too! lol
good luck dude!
Some killer thumbnails coming along over there. I'm particularily fond of the enviro ones.
I'd suggest doing some minus borders. Sometimes you got to leave a little more room to have those 'happy accidents' you know
You should try to diversify from the 'flying block of steel' motif in your "aircraft". Aerodynamics is an organic thing, it yearns for moving parts and surfaces to control the flow of air. Purely monolithic designs look like they move in straight lines, usually towards the ground.![]()
@mentler: thx for visiting my sketchbook!
@Anurizm: thx
@Teh Gosu: I'm figuring out whats the best method for thumbnailing, you can put down some lines and value for composition and then start with a bigger final image or just nail that perspective and some detail in that thumb so I can just blow it up and work on an overlay. thx for the comment.
@Machineabuse: You have a really good point about those aircraft thumbs, I should study some real aircrafts and stuff. Going to work on it pretty soon, still busy with environments at the moment.
thx for the crits!
Something between thumbnailing

Life drawing. 1 min pose, really hard to nail those lines. Got more poses but not worth showing
longer pose

More thumbs.. learning something more every page. all thumbs are done on A3(11.7 × 16.5) btw.
![]()
those are some awsome thumbs, I can your thumbnailing skills improving![]()

@Anurizm: Thx man
@hurricane: Thx! I love doing it
@mentler: You are too generous! Hehe, thx for comment I appreciate it!
Another speedpaint, just testing some brushes I got from M@. Sorry for the small image but my photoshop crashed and I didnt saved so I had to take a print screen. And like always I'm overworking the image... need to set myself a timelimit. Not very happy with this one actually.

nice sketches!
Real exciting sb. Thanks for sharing and you motivate me to make thumbs all the time! I constantly see things that I want to thumb, but think it is too dumb to do it. Now I have the confidence to do so. Thanks and cheers!

really, really good to see all those thumbs your pumping out. i agree with your self crit on the last piece, i think the lighting might be what confuses me, that and it doesn't have a strong focal point or something so it's hard to see what you're saying with this one (should have done some thumbs first?)
i came across this post that i thought you might enjoy too, about creating depth.
again - awesome work man.

@tensai: Yeah I sould have done thumbs first lolI was just testing some brushes and worked out that piece, was pretty fun but over to the next one
