hey everybody, didnt update this thread for a while wich doesnt mean i was unproductive, in fact its the exact opposite.
after studying physics for over 3 years while doing music and art in my spare time, i started to do freelance stuff about two years ago, during the last time physic blocked my time more and more and finally i noticed that i will never become as good as i want with art if i spend up to 16 hours a day with (extremely interesting) physic stuff.
thats why i decided to drop physic, i really want to become a good artist, if thats the price - so be it. anyway, been painting 8-12 hrs a day since octobre and hopefully thats visible in my new work shown below. im preparing a portfolio at the moment and hope to get a good fulltime position next year. well its kind of funny as im going the oposite way then usual, being successfully freelancing for 1 1/2 -2 years now, but i really want to learn from and enjoy the competitive and productive atmosphere of working in a success-driven team of geeks
aside from that im currently trying to push my progressive rock band to the max - ill show you (those of you who are interested in that kind of stuff) the results as soon as their finished.
id really like to hear your thoughts on these new works and my descisions etc
okok so much blabla, finally heres some new work

Wow! You've got lots of eye-candies in your book. Keep up!
Hey man, the last batch in#423 is stunning. I see a great jump in color treatment (something you already do real nice)and specially in rendering! my only crit would be to see some more polished pieces or taken to a more detailed state...
Also thanks for the suggestions in my last piece, it really helped me a lot. I am just uploading a revised version, would love to hear your opinion![]()

mmmm those colors, I could just eat them up, ahahha. I love your work; i particular like how you know exactly where to place sharp contours and where to use soft blending, its something i need to learn myself. The enviros are kick-ass! I would love to see some more in-progress shots and see how you build them from the ground up. Great work!
wow!!! Great painting, epic i'd say. Do mooooore this cool stuff!I will check)
some realy cool stuff in here.. last one is great!!!![]()

Thanks for dropping by again man, and thanks alot for your input!
Damn your stuff is goooood. So much better colours than I can push out in imaginary work. Really liking the dude in front of the window and the guy with the armor in #423.
I kinda feel like the #424 requires a bit more dark values in the shadows. There doesn't seem to be a secondary lightsource inside the stairway but everything seems to be quite evenly lit. Maybe try adding some vague secondary lightsource at the bottom of the stairs or something

Nice sketchbook! I really like those cardgame wips, specially that (almost?) greyscale one, awesome values. And that muscular guy in post 423 is really nice too, again great values and a really nice surface.

Niiiiiiice, the latest cardgame piece is juicy
Did you use any textures on the piece with the arches? Looks really awesome. At first I thought you might have some wobbliness going on on the archway to the right but not I'm not sure. Round shapes are so hard in such extreme perspectives. :/
Looking good![]()

yeah im using random textures in most of my paintings, in general there is no connection between the photos and the images i mainly use random photos my girlfriend shoots i dont care for angle or subject in these photos, they just add a good amount of randomness to the surfaces, like in the piece with the arches, i used a photograph of a painted pile of wood and transformed it so it fits the geometry on the walls, made an "overlay"-layer out of it and then turned the opacity to a low amount, so i had some "randomness" to play with

update on that piece above ... still far from being finished - so much timeconsuming and exhausting detail

Holy smoke, that last one is awsome. How long have you spent on it so far? I never know where the hell to start with details on evironment pieces. Do have any tips on where to get started?
Great work, keep knocking them out.
Always looking for feedback, so feel free to stop by any of these, cheers.
