    Angry Gods

    Hi everyone. here´s my entry:

Here´s the story (sorry for my not so perfect english ):
Hundreds of years before, 9 of these beings arrived to earth using only their gigantic wings, and were greeted by a few ancient cultures, among them the aztecs who never understood what they were running from. What we believe to be their pyramids and design were actually parts of their armor, or human made but inspired on their alien gods. They built their home below ground as they could not stand our planet´s temperature. For hundreds of years they slept, and the aztecs cared for them as gods, but in the 15th century it all came to an end, as these beings felt the coming of the spanish and their bloody war, and thus decided to leave. Coming out of the earth after hundreds of years was terribly painful to them. Still, hidden in their armor, a few aztecs managed to escape too, and are now a prosperous and peaceful civilization many light years away from our war ravaged planet. Every few decades they look upon us, and sadness is all that comes from it.

This is about the coolest site I have ever seen. I haven't seen anything else like it on the web. D-Baker and Cakeypigdog have the best like always... kind of curious how long they have been painting...

    See you next week.

Awesome challenge and great entries! I hope daylight savings doesn't cause this to be late... or does it make me early???

The Space traveller's normally reliable AZ-Technology Interstellar Wormhole Portal Generator failed on a long-ago trip and he found himself trapped on a alien planet and surrounded by a primitive people. Utilizing his superior type A personality he managed to convince the tribal people to build for him a series of pyramid type structures to guide his way back home...

Oh man, this round had a lot of quality!!! foofoo, most creepy entry! Excellent character!

armando: Another disturbing entry. Imagine this guy knocking on your door!!! You should have put him in a dramatically lit scene with a background! Great design!

Justin Oaksford: Another one of my favourite entries here!

jfwalls: Yay for you! Only crit - maybe the body and legs are a little monotone, I mean that design-wise, not colour-wise. It could have used something to keep the whole character exciting.

Soja: You really should have rendered this dude (color or black and white). This might have become my favourite piece, 'cause the design is great!

Lohan: I wish you had tightened up this character! Could have been potentially my favourite also. Just not at this unfinished state.

cakeypigdog: You win! EXCELLENT entry!!! Tiny crit: The legs kind of get lost infront of the tails of his frock. Should have simply made the legs a little lighter, or super dark.

Great stuff all around - so much talent!
Bumskee:Your entry is nine kinds of perty.
Armando: Odd and beautiful. I love the color pallette.
foofoo: Creeptastic! Your entry weirds me out! Love it!
xgabo: I really like the metal suit - the way you rendered it looks like it was smithed - like all the piping was hammered into place.
Justin Oaksford: One of my favs. Nice work.
D-BAKER: I really like this one, I studied the way you rendered the details way too long!
cakeypigdog: The best entry was the first enrty! The bar was set high early!

many good entries. my vote went for cakeypigdog and xgabo, who I think had the best mix of a creative concept while keeping in line with the topic, and great artwork.

    Fantastic round

My vote goes to xgabo, i dont think i need to explain why

What imo is great about this round, is that everyone has different designs, but they all feel meso-american. Gratz to that.

Its a pitey mine didnt make it to the poll, but the bg was kinda rushed and i wouldnt have got any votes anyway

    Looking forward to next CHOW

Voted for cakeypigdog. Loved the Aztec-like regalia, especially with the head dress, and the colors magnifique!

Others that made me say ooh and ah:
El_Khan: The design is cool, and I like the comicbook style rendering, also the space background adds drama. Asoir posted that pic but it looks nothing like it, I mean that's a fairly common pose to use, Alex Ross used the same pose on a hundred characters for a Kingdom Come poster http://members.aol.com/foresakor/supes32.jpg, and on and on with other artists.
JustinOaksford: Really like the use of the lights, very Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Voted Xgabo, for is was the most aztec and most powerful image. D-Baker , Cakeypigdog and Bumskee were very close, but I tend to go for the single vote.

Odd, I've only ever heard of the movie. No screencaps or anything.
I guess I had sort of the classic "Planetiarium" lighting in mind.

I didn't mean so much that it looked like anything specific in the movie, but that it has a similar effect, in that it's dark and from that darkness emerges this colorful being(spaceship in the movie) that communicates with light(also with music in the movie, a pretty wicked synth number). That's the vibe I got from it.
