Hello all you folks of concept art, i'm here in the hopes of self improvement. I seem to keep getting stuck in a bit of a rut, I'd considermyself a reasonable artist but due to helath reasons I just could never dedicate myself to artwork, for years this went on.. i'd tinker.. get depressed.. quit for a few weeks... suffering from major mineral deficiency means i just couldn't focus and now i actually have a grip on it (multivits, exercise, diet etc ) I'm realising just how many gaps there are in my know how.
So i'm here in the hopes of supportive and usefull advice, if anyone can spot any gaps please make suggestions and be harsh if you have to, I'm eager for the creative critisism.
First pic was pretty easy for me, took me about an hour with lose photo reference
second pic is a redo of a life drawing sketch I had, again this came out surprisngly easily
but then we take a look at my sketchwork... thats where i feel my stuff lacks the most... colouring i have little issue it seems, when i really have to I can produce some worthwhile stuff but. it feels like my sketchwork lets me down.. I dont like it. it's the biggest gap in my knowhow..
Also I cant do typical lineart... I chose a layer at 30% use light green so it's barely visable.. sketch there and attempt to go over in dark but it just fails hard.. so sketching in general is my weakness
