    _-_-UPDATE-_-_ 1st digital landscape

    yeah so I'm going to the Art Institute of Dallas and well I need to start drawing much much more to get better you see, but I just don't have much motivation these days and I thought if I post here people will help me out and give me the motivation I need so badly.
    I've been around on this site for months now but never posted mostly due to the lack of a scanner, but now I can scan at school all I want! Woohoo!!!

    I like the artists on this site, it seems you always give great advice and tips and such and I get most of the motivation I have from looking at other peoples work on here... so thanks for that!

    please leave crits and comments just be kind if you can.

    Anyway heres some random stuff from sketch books. I plan on scanning more stuff at school after the weekend so come on back and see later on.

    1st heres some life drawing 1 homework.

    And here have a look see at these random sketches and such...

    sorta a self portrait but just my nose and one eye

    not sure what this thing is... just some creature I was mucking around with one day I'll work on another more finished one cuz I liked the way this thing was looking... kinda a monster rino or something.

    sketch from a scene in kingdom of heaven...

    this is a complete self-portrait or as complete as I can seem to make it, I'm afraid I'll ruin it if I try to make it better... I do that quite a bit.
    I know it looks like alot of blending but there is none, just very fine lines like the nose and eye above.
    I'll scan it at a higher quality sometime so you can tell.

    Oh yeah, that one with the baby that was just part of some sketching I was doing with de vinci's fetus drawings but I had an idea and wanted to play with it a little, and thats what it became. kinda cool I think?

    anyways please give some crits or just tell me what you think Its been days and no one has even bothered and I'm kinda disappointed.

    Bump your thread with more drawings instead of comments.
    The life drawings are a nice start. You should however avoid to smudge
    the graphite especially as a shading tool. It is extremely difficult to pull off,
    and only hurt your drawings as a beginner.
    ( I'm mostly referring to the tree and self portrait )

    Continue doing life drawings !
    Good luck

    Actually, thats pretty damn good already. I would certainly do a few more and figure out how the skull rotates etc. Work your understanding of value while you`re at it (get some solid contrast in there). cool :]
    Agree with art-Addict, on smudgy shading. Try and be bold, dont be afraid to make some mistakes in your search to improvement

    Welcome to CA. Very nice sketches youve got here. The selfportrait is really good, but try to get more contrast in. And on your sketches, try to use some cleaner lines when drawing. Are you a freshman in college? Im trying to get into college, but I wont know if I get excepted until a couple of weeks from now. Cant wait to see more.

    Art_Addict- yeah I am learning that now, thanks for the advice.

    Banshax - Thanks, Yes I will work on that

    Envisor- The self portrait is a little darker in contrast just for some reson it lightened when I scanned it, but thanks. I will try to do better lines, and yeah its actually my 2nd quarter at the art institute and all is going well so far... hope you get in!

    Thanks all for the crits

    ~~~1st digital landscape~~~
    Didn't really get any drawing done today but I did try drawing for the 1st time on a wacom tablet... so heres my first digital landscape/wacom tablet practice.
    I think it looks pretty good, only took about 30 mins.
    I don't really have any knowledge of these things so tell me if I did a good job or not, and/or how I can make one better.
    nice dedication. Keep doing those bridgeman, loomis and hogarth studies.
    And draw as much as you can from life. focus on the drawing part and getting
    your values right before you try to tackle color.
