is 4x6 to small a size for a Wacom tablet??.. (for PS painting that is..)

Sorry for such a NOOB of a question and if it has been asked before.... But I really need to know...

Is that an ok sized tablet for painting in photoshop???? or do I need to go bigger?.... What sized tablet do you use????

I use a 4x6 for painting in PS, and it's not bad, but if you can afford it I would reccommend going bigger.

Agreed, not only did I review the product on amazon, that was my biggest beef. I currently have it mapped upside down, but it's not the same. I did notice a speed difference, the 4x5 responds faster, but of course it's a smaller area.

I like using my 4x5 for travel.

i went for a 6X8 , i cannot really imagine using anything smaller. Bigger isn't always better though - i've heard a lot of people making decisions based on what easily fits into their lap/desk etc - maybe make a few carboard cutouts of each screen size and see what fits ? 6X8 is actually about 10X10, if you include non-active area

And if it so happens that you prefer the smaller size, well the lower price is a nice bonus too.

If you want the absolute BEST then you should get a Cintiq but they are usally around $3000-6000 so yeah. A graphire should be fine though.

To be honest I don't see much difference between tablets besides price, I've had a £20 xp-pen tablet for about 2 or so years and I'm happy with it. I don't really see why people go for tablets costing hundreds of pounds other than bragging rights, unless these expensive tablets have some hidden rockets in them or something I'm not aware of.

This seems to be an extremely common question that can be easily answered if you used google or did a search.

The big difference is the number of levels in sensitivity. Graphire is about half the pressure sensitivity than an Intuos. There is also a responsiveness in how you tilt your pen.

with the smaller tablets you have to use your your wrist and you cant use your whole arm which can be a problem buy an intuos it is worth the extra money especially for the hotkeys i have a 6 by 8 intuos for the road and a cintiq at home. i love the intuos though the hotkeys make it go to provantage.com that is where i got mine if you are a student you can pick them up for less than 275 at the time i bought mine hope that helps good luck

if you're serious about this then don't bother getting a 4x5. get at least a 6x8 and get a intuous3 or used intuous 2.
