Thanks Jamesy, check your sb, threw some love your way.

Right, I've been reading alot of Judge Dredd again latley, and I've been inspired to attempt a public transport concept.

I'll take this as far as I can, but my knowledge of tech and vehicle design is limited, so I'll put what I have up now for some viewer analysis. I know it's very simple at the moment, but I'm trying.

I'm thinking that it's some kind of public transport, like a bus in the future. Hence the stylish domes and curves. The front is the far right, and I'm thinking about adding some large wheels, or bits and bobs that make it hover. Seeing as it's the future why can't it float too?

    Lemme know what you think.

Hey Smoke. You posted in my sketchbook, and I feel I should return the favour. Sorry I took to long.

I don't think those figure poses you posted very well organized, maybe you could you seperate them a bit?
I just notice objects and eyes very close together, as well as mixing in the area and it takes a while to break it down into the indiviual studies. The human form studies seem to overlap each other in places as well. I mean it's good to keep them tight on the page, a sketchbook feels more full when you fill it up as much as possible, but it might be good to divide different studies into different places on the page.

I wish I had more crit to give, since your post was so helpful. Anyway, I like what I see here and good luck with it!

Your digital pieces with colour are definitly stronger than your pencil stuff.

It does look like you might want to organize it better like Ananda said, it looks more like it's just random drawing whatever, hehe. Find an anatomy book, or just pull photos off the internet to do, lets say eyes, for an hour.

That last landscape is nice. As far as your doodles/sketches - try to not doodle mindlessly. Be aware of what you're sketching. Ask yourself some questions while your making marks, "What shapes would look cool here?, "what doesn't look right?", "how do I add cool details?" etc. Don't agonize over it, just don't let your hand do the work of the mind (excuse the psychologico mumbo-jumbo!) Good luck!

Hey mate. I know how you feel, but I would recommend trying to do a finished drawing. Do a bit of pre-planning, just like subject, whats going on. Pick steps you want to take to finish it (pencil to ink, then color) even something monochromatic. The experience will be beneficial!

but no matter what, i still wub u

Hello everyone! Sorry for the late replies and the lack of udpates, I've not been doing much lately(changing, trust me). I have some sketchbook work to show but right now I'd rather get started with some a study I'm working on, from ref.

    Rabid: Thanks, I will.

Max challie: I see what you mean about the organisation. I'm trying to keep my drawings neater and more organised now. Thanks for the input.

Sorkness: A good deal of what I've posted is random drawing, as you can see in this post I've taken your advice.

Mentler: Thanks man, I'm taking the time.

MarkWinters: I've taken your advice as well, and I've been trying to put it to good use, thinking of what would look right where, how dark it should be, where it would look better if placed at this angle or that size, ect. Thanks.

Matsign: Hey dude, I'm trying it, looking at steps, thinking about what I want to do. I've been attacking the paper with pen and pencil.

    I wub you more.

sho-nuff: Hey, yeah I used ref for those mountains, it's not the same as yours though. I looked through your sb, your stuff is miles ahead of mine!

Ulver: I'm trying. Listening to Tool as I type

Seriously, thanks for the replies and for the advice everyone.

And sorry about the quality of this image, it's pulled straight from my webcam

Tools used - Willow charcoal, B, 2B, and a 0.3mm mechanical ( think it's 3 anyway) along with a putty eraser and a generic big white rubber.

Wheyyy, thanks, I will. Check your sketchbook, left you some crits.

    Moar!

Same tools, took about 5 hours, reffed.

Again, sorry for the shitty picture, it's all I can get at the moment because the usb cable for the good camera has been lost and my scanner is borked, so this will have to do.

The line is shadow from the camera cable.

I'd like to see more detail in the integration of facial features in the first drawing, just to blend them together - like refining how the eye fits in, and connecting the bottom of the nose with the lip more (you could smooth it out with a curve). Is the eye too close to the nose? Should it come back a bit?

I really like the second face. The eye just seems to fit right in, with nothing out of place and it all being well integrated.

I think your four legged b&w is really strong. Break it down to small areas and experiment with some colors.

Doing some digital master copy studies will help you paint a little better.
