Hey, that's not stupid at all. By develop I mean picking which shapes best communicate what I want and fleshing them out with details.

    Hey hey, page 4!

    Here's a speedy.

Please do show your progress as you go on those. I might want to mimic what you are doing, if you don't mind. Perhaps this would be a way to get all those pictures I see in the woodgrain to use.

Shehaub: Are you sure? I mean, I'm new to the whole ship conception process myself, so I'm not sure how much help I'd be. But if you want to have an OC session sometime perhaps we can collab and come up with a few awesome designs together?

Here's a mini update, tried to refine the ship a bit more, on the advice of Jdeegz.

Love the mountain... and I spy a face in the lower left area. Probably not intentional.. but nonetheless, there it is!

    Moar please!

Last mountain turned out great. I like the mixture of hard strokes and texture.

Keep playing with that mountain. I think a combination of the softer misty cloud next to the harsh sharp edges of the mountain make a nice contrast.

Your quicky reminds me of mine shafts.

I will be honest, the direct line to the mountain seems very abrupt. There is no place for my eyes to sit and rest anywhere.

    Your creature makes me smile.

Quick very small value study, I think doing this really helped, it doesn't feel flat compared to the other cave things I've tried.

Shehaub: I'll remember that next for my next try, thanks.

    Xobgob: Uh, thanks?

I have some studies coming, promise.

    hey Smokey,
About the speedy on post 103, get rid off the gray-ish triangle on the foreground because I believe you wanted the mountain in the background to be the focal point and this sort of triangle is quite distracting.
I really like the shapes on the sides and they work well as foreground. They seem like remains of an old forest or something, very organic.
I'm not an expert in composition but I hope this note helps you a bit

Impressive speedies! Your colour choices are sweet, and I like the variety of your content.

As for the pic in post #103, I agree with Shehaub. It seems to be missing one focal point, my eyes went all over the picture. It's an interesting concept, though, hope you'll do something more with it.

I like all the colors at the top of the clouds. It really gives the impression that something is going on inside them.

Completely removing the words 'speed' and 'quick' from your vocabulary would probably help you quite a bit

    Cheers guys.

Here's some sketches, scribbles, and a study or two. I have more, but they're studies of other artists work and I'm not sure they'd appreciate me uploading them.

I'm trying to upload everything (apart from the aforementioned subject). So there's some seriously dumb scribbles in here.

Hey, your colors look good. Your drawings, however, need some work. One suggestion is to see your paper as a 3d space. The bridgman book talks about that in massing. I'll reread that section and try to learn from that if I were you. Don't worry about tacking on tons of details at the start. One thing about drawing is that you have to know the shape and form of the object you're drawing. If you don't, you can't expect your viewers to pick up what you're trying to draw. Play with the simple shapes and try to put them on paper from different angles and viewpoints, then go from there. Once you know the basics, it'll translate to your colors.

I like your Bridgeman studies the best out of this last group.

I think it is a good habit to keep putting ideas down like you have been with the landscapes/environments/figures even if you don't plan on doing any further with them. Keep the "What if.. ?" moving. I let myself get locked into "Only draw/paint what you see" and its been a struggle to find that truly creative side of me that wanted to learn to draw in the first place.

    Keep going!

EvilBunny: Thank you. I understand what you're saying with my sketches, they all look very flat and my understanding of 3d space could sure as hell use some work. I'll have a ton of perspective and shape studies done soon, so check back later By the way, do you have a sketchbook?

Shehaub: You're a long stander in my sketchbook, I can count on you to give me a good crit or just a pat on the back when I update, I hope I return the favour often enough(that goes for everyone), I've been reading up on your blog and your sketchbook, It'd be nice to know you some more.

I'll some more bridgeman done soon as well, look out for them.

As for YOU however, get some imaginative sketches uploaded, pronto.

Something I did to relax. I watched the sunrise this morning and was inspired to attempt my own. Liking this one

I really like this last environment. Very moody and you captured the depth just right. I noticed a lot of these are quick studies, so I'd like to see you push some of your concepts further. There's a lot of good ideas here, so just keep it up!
