this idea isn't bad, important is to show us how you apply this knowledge from the studies you made, cuz you will get more crits, which is important to can eliminate your weak points.

what can I say overall: nice studies at all, like the arms you make, for first you made them too stylized, which isn't good, but now you do it well, keep pushing yourself and looking forward to see these knowledges in your own work
*dig. the line you draw with!

Peter Berkovski: I understand what you're saying. I will add here once in a while some sort of compilation of studies ofcourse. It would be great when more people give tips in my progress.

Thanks for digging my work so far and noticing that I improved on my arms. They can still be troublesome, only I have now a better grasp on them then before I think.

Bluemonika: Thanks and I will post more soon!

Bluemonika: Thanks, yeah same here I think.

I haven't done a cell shaded drawing for ages I believe... I used a small brush to ink the bigger strokes and for the little detail like the shoe, I used a pen nib.

Hand studies from Bridgman, also practiced with brushes to ink the hands.

This is from an animation project I'm working on. The first one is more concept and a bit rough. Decided to try CGing and reperspectiving the sleeping room with Photoshop. Third is the new version in pencils. I decided to go for the style and look as the first one. The CG one I worked later on does'nt really work out to paint over it IMO. Third one has to been colored with Ecoline, a waterbased ink brand.

Decided to go brown CA style. Been busy with Bridgman lately and trying to apply that on my own work. Also a silly experimentation with drawing by my left hand (I'm right). Also tiny head syndrome...

Keep it going dude! Really enjoying the gestural expression in these... Just remember that for the most part the weight bearing hip is higher than the loose hip, this is because the weight bearing side of the hips are fighting gravity with the aid of the leg and the looser leg is being left to gravity's design.

This of course doesn't count with extremely high side or round house kicks

BrainTree: Yes, that's the whole prupose the way I see it, still can be hard though but to be honest, Bridgman's work has improved my work a lot.

Crazy Dude: I will keep it going! And although how cliche and whining it might sound, don't have much time and energy. But I try it! Yes, hips can be awfully deceiving. I like to draw and study them, but I think I still can't archive the perfect "hip" Thank you very much for the tip.

    ----

Okay, I have that miserable feeling again that I'm a good for nothing and to perfect to be ever pleased with something I do. I just hate this and it's like last year again, done nothing for my self and feeling stressed. Don't know how much I have improved over time, so what do you guys think? And where should I focus on more?

Probably my last post before I'm going on holiday. I'll hopefully get back with some sketches and lifedrawings from vacation. Have a great holiday as well and don't worry, be happy!

At the moment I have been to art academy for three weeks now. I enjoy going there even though I don't have much time for my own illustrations due to homework. But that's okay now I'm learning different approaches and history about art then only sitting at home doing studies that feel too random for me.

I love illustration and drawing from life/portraits classes, maybe I'll post some of these here someday.

Here are some concepts for a flyer about psychological problems. We had to choose an object for illustration class, I picked a duck with puzzle forms. Choose the subject psychological problems because it reminded me in a way that people have to pick up their own puzzle pieces and place them right to go on in life.

The order is from first to last that I finished them. Done with markers.

Here's a part of my life drawings I did at art academy. Paper size is A2 594 x 420 mm, used charcoal which I personally still don't like to use. Sorry about the quality, I had to photograph them in a poor lit room...

These are strong starts with charcoal. Although I really haven't the faintest clue on how to manipulate this medium easier.

hey nice start with the charcoal life drawings. I'd focus on your values more, a lot of these look flat because they don't have proper lightning. Use your bridgeman knowledge! Pick 3 values for your light, dark, and less dark parts, divide the shapes you see into easier shapes (cubes are your friend) so you know where the dark and lighter sides should be. Don't be afraid to get extreme with your shadows on the faces, and last but not least, watch your proportions

I know you can do it seeing your anatomy studies, so do it!

Crazy Dude: I think it's a matter of practise. Although the charcoal I used for these model drawings were pretty cheap, my art teacher said we're going to using other kind of charcoal from a brand I already forgot the name of.

D.Labruyere: Will try to keep it in mind. Perhaps some more value studies is a must for me, starting with simple shapes like spheres and boxes under a light from life might help perhaps. You mean the proportions of my artwork in general? I have a habbit of destyling my personal work a tad too much though. I think I did a decent job on the charcoal drawings except for some faces.
Thanks for the support, I will do it!

Alright, some explanation is needed; I got an assignment from art class to do colour studies. The assignment was that you should choose an painting from a master and to pick the most common colours in that painting with acryllics. I picked 25 colours from Alphonse Mucha's "Music" painting. Which you can also see here with my colour picking (note that the colours from the painting of Mucha is slightly different then the source from my book I picked the colours from):

This was an assignment from my comic design class; draw 100 cups and teapots together in different positions, angels, etc to experiment with composition and atmosphere. I thought It was fun and helpful.
