now its a really really big download...

hey CA!! hope alls well with yous! i have been meaning to post some things for a while, however i have been swamped with work, whih is, of course a good thing its been hard to keep up with personal endeavors due to the round the clock schedule, so most of this stuff is a couple months old, but i havent posted it here, so its still newish.

this first one is big, like 50 something by 40 something oil on canvas. took about 4 months to complete off and on. i used myself as the crackhead, for the lack of a better model. i also included a couple close up shots... the idea behind this painting is that these big gluttonous things follow their derelict hosts around and act as a parasite of sorts. they wear the vices and tools that have driven thier hosts to where they are now, so depending on what the person has done, the adornments of their parasites would be different. they have screws for arms to push the visual symbolism of addiction and how it digs in. anyway i could go on and on, but you get the point. i had a lot of fun on this one. its the longest i have ever taken on a painting.

next we have some concepts of hookers and a pimp and some wierd mosnters all chillin that i did on my spare time.

then theres this other liquor store painting i did a couple months back. its small as shit, like 8x14, oil on panel, done from photo.

then i have this future night scene i did, using a 3d base. i tried to keep it spontaneous, and more suggestive. its so much fun to paint lights in photoshop!

i drew these plants a few weeks ago and colored it in photoshop. just more playing around with shit, but i kind a liked how it turned out....

also, we have been doing an alla prima head painting thing at the altilier for the past few months, and i have been desparately been trying to get my sorry ass back in practice painting heads! damn its amazing how rusty you get when you dont do it for a while. these are a few i did on my spare time as practice that dont totally suck ass. i have been really trying to focus on simplifying and getting them shapes closer. so hard i tell ya!!!
self portrait and close up from life, spent like 2-3 hours on this one

then sam brown, from life, about 2.5 hours

then a portrait of chris hatala, our animation director at MB, and an old dear friend of mine....
then all the old thread madness that i delelted the descriptions to and am too lazy to re write them

and thats all i gots for now. hope you like -c36

Wow coro, this was a killer update on your stuff, like the scenes you've done, fantastic colors, and the painting from the reff is intresting, very instense colors, the colors of the sky and the light inside the bus, awesome.

The website is easy to look around in, nice design. Good choice to split it up like you did. It works fine for me, no bugs.

    Hugs!

    Impeccable stuff sir!
The colours in all of them are hot, and I really like the brushstrokes in your oilz.
By the way, I hope you don't mind me linking you on my websitea while ago, Justin; www.jakerolfe.com.

edit: your new site design I'm liking much more than your previous one, and it's awesome to see all the new work up there.

I love the work you have posted here, it all feels really natural, the lighting is beautiful. I ended up visiting your website which was a mistake because I was supposed to be meeting up with a friend some 15 minutes ago and I still haven't showered . Incredibly inspiring stuff, thanks for sharing.

    Hey coro theese are fantastic!

They have some issues though (in my opinion of course)
    1) http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1170492207 that one looks good and all but there is some areas that makes it look "flat". The door on the car for an example, it's very undefined and lacks a little more of a stonger/brighter value.
-Maybe open the other door too?
-The characters are standing a little odd, might be the similar poses that does it
-Something about the grounds darkness that throws it off.. maybe add more gray and brighten it up a little?

    2) http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1170492235
-Looks very good and awesome colors BUT the placement of the characters are a little bad. The robots on the right kinda disapears amongst the tree and posts.
-The robots poses are very stiff...i know that probably the robots would move like a stiff but rotate them, change the stance a little maybe?
-The guy/girl has a boring pose too, i don't really like the fact that the feet are placed next to eachother...kind of kills the action.
-Maybe add some strong sun light along the right side of the houses ? maybe some in the tree to guide the viewer?

    3)http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1170492253
    - Damn cool! love the format!
    - There's something about that big spaceship that enoys me.... i think it needs some more dark areas. Taking the distance fog into acount and all i think i'm right... because if the rest of the picture would follow the distance fog that the ship follows there would be less contrast all over and less visibility.
    - I kinda miss the strong blues from the middle and leftside of the picture over to the right side. On the right side it feels very grey.

    The rest is smashing !!

Sorry for the hail storm o' critique....felt like it...

cheers and as always, i'm a big FAN!!

your work is gangster! the paintings have some kickass colors and composition. i also like the graphics alot!

the websites looking great, fucking fantastic work and a clean layout! a few things i noticed is the images are really huge and you could probably add a "click to enlarge" thing to them. also, you might consider combining your sub categories, for instance in concept art: have enviros, tech and characters all on the screen just divided by headers or something. i always feel that on someones portfolio site you should only have to click once or twice to see the goods.

    awesome stuff.

Nice post! Look at em pretty colors : )

Website is tight as well... it definitely tempted me to go through it all. It was also nice seeing that the old website was still there through the archive link.

that SF bus stop brings back memories.. damn cold summer.

Always nice seeing someone doing that personal art shiet too on top of the regular job.

    hope all is well

    Yo Coro !

I must say it was well worth waiting for this update.
I fell in love with your oils and sense of color, the first time I laid eyes on your stuff!
Damn!! that bus painting is great. How the hell do you get them ( the colors )
to pop out soo much !? Also, the way you break down your image is very cool
The details you choose to leave out are obvious but never distract from the important
stuff. I would love to see you paint again and talk about that particular "desicion making" part
It's great that you do those night scenes, they have lots of mood in 'em.
Makes me wanna go out and hit the city

Thanks for your never stopping influence and inspiration
( gonna check your site now )

    All the best

Hey Coro, nice to see your a regular now dude
I like your twist of your more traditional environs mixed with the robots. You should definatley do more of these
I also like the fact that you dont seem to stick to one style, You have your tradish, then concepty and then graffiti and mix around, its all fun ^_^

Btw id just like to say *Asspat Alert* When I looked at your sketchbook in san fran, that has to be the damn friggin greatest sketchbook ive ever layed eyes on, I was dribbling on every page.. So ignore the odd wet patches on it

Your gonna have to post up another one of your tutorials man, the guache looks like alot of fun to play with. Did I hear you use some form of alcohol type thing to stop the pages from wrinkling?

    Keep Drawing!!!

I jumped when I saw the robots at the fire in the panorama, I just drew something very similar but in 60's scifi style. Compositionally that piece is kinda scattered I feel. The spaceship doesn't really do it for me. The bent car is nice but the addition of the regular sports car seems odd.
