hey CA!! hope alls well with yous! i have been meaning to post some things for a while, however i have been swamped with work, whih is, of course a good thingits been hard to keep up with personal endeavors due to the round the clock schedule, so most of this stuff is a couple months old, but i havent posted it here, so its still newish.
this first one is big, like 50 something by 40 something oil on canvas. took about 4 months to complete off and on. i used myself as the crackhead, for the lack of a better model. i also included a couple close up shots... the idea behind this painting is that these big gluttonous things follow their derelict hosts around and act as a parasite of sorts. they wear the vices and tools that have driven thier hosts to where they are now, so depending on what the person has done, the adornments of their parasites would be different. they have screws for arms to push the visual symbolism of addiction and how it digs in. anyway i could go on and on, but you get the point. i had a lot of fun on this one. its the longest i have ever taken on a painting.
next we have some concepts of hookers and a pimp and some wierd mosnters all chillin that i did on my spare time.
then theres this other liquor store painting i did a couple months back. its small as shit, like 8x14, oil on panel, done from photo.
then i have this future night scene i did, using a 3d base. i tried to keep it spontaneous, and more suggestive. its so much fun to paint lights in photoshop!
i drew these plants a few weeks ago and colored it in photoshop. just more playing around with shit, but i kind a liked how it turned out....
also, we have been doing an alla prima head painting thing at the altilier for the past few months, and i have been desparately been trying to get my sorry ass back in practice painting heads! damn its amazing how rusty you get when you dont do it for a while. these are a few i did on my spare time as practice that dont totally suck ass. i have been really trying to focus on simplifying and getting them shapes closer. so hard i tell ya!!!
self portrait and close up from life, spent like 2-3 hours on this one
then sam brown, from life, about 2.5 hours
then a portrait of chris hatala, our animation director at MB, and an old dear friend of mine....
then all the old thread madness that i delelted the descriptions to and am too lazy to re write them
and thats all i gots for now. hope you like -c36

). It's always refreshing to see concept artists working traditionally. Great work dude!
