The Critique Center needs some help...

Anyone want to help me give good crits in the Critique Center?

I made it back to page five on those with zero posts in them, and made it a couple pages back on those with only one crit. I was surprised to see that there were people asking for our help and that they were not getting it.

Plus, I want to get one of those eyeball icons for my username. Jason told me I had to earn it though. haha! So, back to critting I go.

Hahha, good luck with the eyeball.
I'll uhm, try and get some criting in - it would be really nice if people would ask for specific crits if they could - in the subject even.

Only problem is that the level of expertise from those that want critique is too high for me.

    Thanks for the reminder Yumiko!
We should all be in there helping out.

We all want people to crit our work, but then we don't give out crits.
We have to give crits to receive them!

    Thanks for the reminder!

By the way, for those of you interested in one of these eyeball things, try brainstorming up other ways to contribute here as well. Got something you can teach, or share?

I thought the eyeball was for professionals. Me, I'm a professional alright, just not in art.

I basically ceased with crit center after the critics panned my crits.

You're right, Yumiko. I haven't humiliated myself in a long while in the crits sec. That will change today...

As far as I know, the eyeball is sort of an underused merit badge for being really involved in critiques and the community here. Either that, or it means I’m a zombie and I’m shedding body parts. I don’t think the admins have really handed them out in a long while. I was curious, so I asked if I could have one, and about a thousand posts later it mysteriously appeared. ;-)

    Ha! You funny guy.
I admit, for a week there I was doing what I could in the C&C section, but then I get sidetracked with work and stuff. I try and visit on my lunchhour when I can. I'm useless though when I get home. But I'll give some more effort.

Man, you really hit a lot of threads.
I went into the Crit Center and specifically hit the threads with 0 comments on the first 4 or 5 pages, then when that was done I started on the threads with only 1 comment. There were sooo many. It was more of a personal penance for neglecting that forum for so long!

If you click on the eyeball it says:
"This member has been awarded with the Honorable Critic "medal". This member has helped the community time and time again with their helpful comments, and we are very thankful to have them in this community."

I think the eyeball badge originated years ago but got more or less forgotten. It might have originally been for "professionals in the industry" back when CA was just a tadpole, but with the exponential member growth (both professional & non-pro) over the years it has morphed into the Honorable Critic "medal." I don't notice many new ones around these days.

Sorry. It just never occurs to me to click on somebody's eyeball. I got some eye issues.

I'll check into crit center now and again. Lately I've mostly been going into sketchbooks to make crits, and trying to provide some content for community activities that are apparently a bit off the beaten path.

Yumiko, thanks for posting this. The CC has been slower than usual lately, and I was actually meaning to do something similar myself. But i was away all day, and when I got back you beat me to it!

Wow everybody thanks so much! The traffic in the Critique forum has been excellent! (comparatively ) I really didn't think the suggestion would be as well received as it has been. Thank you all around for helping
