Fast Art: Hey! Thanks a lot ......

....so the background was crap, realized that the values were too similar to the front, so i changed it to a more distinctive setting....but not finished yet.

SnobbyOo, DStraX, Pyroclasm00......thanks a lot! Glad you like the last piece.
.....Actually she is intended to look slightly away, and not directly in the monsters eyes....but if its confusing maybe it would be better to change that....thanks!

Dude, I love your style, it so loose yet detailed...amazing. You said you use brushes from Bumskee's Brushessentials, right? were could I download them? I am interested in testing some of those brushes out, especially after seeing some of the choice stuff you have created with them. Definately am gonna come back soon to check you out. One question though, at what opacity do use when sketching and coloring. I really like how visible each of strokes are. Keep it up. Cheers

God, your stuff is tight. I couldn't view most images (forum lag) so I will have to come back and try again, but what images I could view were superb. Your style really suits the visual I have of the kind of underground graphic novel I long to read. I was particularly impressed with the samurai figure in post 228 (one of the few that actually showed) and was later remixed in post 256.

I really like one of your latest pieces (301-306) but found I was drawn to the rougher sketch more – even though I like the warmer colour of the refined version. I can't really say more as most images failed to load. I will certainly be back later though.

Geistdel...hey, thanks a lot! I couldn't find the link where bumskee has the download for the brushes....i guess it's no problem if i post em here too.
I'm sketching always with a round brush or somethig like that with 100% opacity and with opacity pen pressure and then refining with stronger strokes. When it comes to coloring i really have a hard time, so i dunno if i'm the right person to give advice here...but it's normally the same procedure as sketching....first color with low opacity, and layer functions like overlay, multiply or color so you got the basic color scheme...than working out the lighting in the piece and refining.

    Mischeviouslittleelf..Thanks a bunch !!

Flaskpost Hey Lars, thank you my friend! your right with curve of the thigh, i changed that

    Munin Raven
Hey thanks a lot! Please stop by as often as you want .

The thing with the black and white compared to colored stuff is this. When i started to really get serious with drawing.....i thought how can i learn to paint like guys i've seen here on the board or elsewhere, damn i wanna paint like them!......so i started painting with color...and it looked not soooo good. A sentence that came up very often was........"you need to get your values right" and "watch your values". So i started to find out about value...and what the heck that actually was.!
So now i'm quite comfortable with black and white and i'm glad that i kinda found my own style....but now the whole story continous with coloring . The point is that i also like some of my b/w stuff much more than the colored version of it. But i have to force myself to color it...otherwise i wouldn't learn anything....and stop developing as an artist i guess.

I can't upload the zip file with the attachment manager...but here is a link to my ftp

    Have a nice day!

duuude. that illustration with the monster in the knights face is SIIIICK. the colors came out really on point too. probly my favorite from you. i want to see that hand though! you had it roughed in a little more in your first wip. i want to see that claw just ripping into the earth. i think it would be worth it to add it in. its a great illustration. does it have a purpose or you just made it up?
also, my 2 cents on coloring. try to stay in a mid value value range while in grey scale. no bright highlights or dark darks. save the contrast for when your coloring. try it out. it might work, might not.
    peace man.

Got some really great stuff going on in here!!

Progress on the knight/monster piece is blasting along. Good move on the background change - was gonna suggest that.

Is the knight meant to be a girl? Be those breasts?? Androgyny's gonna wreck havoc on your piece. The monster's face also seems to be a steep and flat fall from the top of its head to its jaw. Give it some outwardly character!

Second what DeKal said about the foreground claw ripping into the earth. That would be ideal. Balancing out the mood would mean the left / background claw could be pressed up against the wall next to the knight's head, sort of pinning him in place before the first, only, and final bite!

    Great stuff. Carry on!

    Jorge Gecov: Thanks a lot!

Dekal:Thanks man! the claw, i guess , got lost in pure laziness...but you're totally right....it would give the monster much more weight and the piece more dynamics.
As for the values....that's exactly what i need to do. I always sketch black and white, and it's pretty hard to color these. it would be much easier if i stay in the mid values.

IanE: Thanks Ian! Yeah ..those are breasts, i get the point. Good point with the face of the monster too!!

Really, thank you guys for your support...those are some really good points regarding the monster piece....it's great to have people giving advice and also kicking my ass !! Keep doing that

some progress on the naked lady...

coming out nice. i like the night time vibe. i think her torso is too long and her belly button is too low. and i think her values are too bright compared to the rest of the piece. just my 2 cents. peace!

oh shoot, these are awesome Delmar. Their eyes, I love 'em. All of 'em.
Early lines were too thick for my eyes, (or that's probably PS level adjusted)
I like the later ones better.

I love those #42 silhouettes? Corel Painter Sketchpad?

I reckong it'll be a nice web page opener. Indeed.
