CHOW #55: "God of Art" (FULL NUDITY, employees beware!!)

Well, I really don't post in this section often, but I figured I'd post this one here, since it's not all the time I do a fairly rendered, digital painting. You will notice quite readily that I went with a GodDESS instead of a God, those that know me will say, "of course you did." I will say, of course I did. This was about a day and a half of painting, about 18 hours total, just to give a frame of reference. Yeah, not much more to say... y'all can go check out CHOW #55 (Weekly Challenges section) for a description if you're interested. There are some things I'd like to work out more, but I'm out of time as I have more pressing assignments comin' at me now, so this is as finished as it will get unless I decide to do more in a week or so... not likely

I wish the birds were a bit clearer but it's still well done.

Yeah, this is one of those artworks that has potential to be great but, just needs to be refined. I mean even the hair that looks more like a tire, the clouds can use some more color variation and depth, the birds can use some minor attention, the rendering of the flesh.... We all know you can do it...

Wow this piece is awesome. I have to agree with vigostar here, a little refinement and this piece would be super-fantastic-spiffy. It would be cool to add some tight specular highlights to the black birds... it would place them closer to the camera and continue the nice diagonal line you have with the white birds. Also, based on the tightness of her torso, it makes me feel like her head should be looking up. the neck muscles are also tight which would indicate movement of some extreme direction. I absolutely love the hair in a huge swirl, the bounce lighting on the girly and the overall composition.

This is kick ass already, but could be a monster, curb-stompin image with a little more work : )

I hate to go against the flow here but I must see I am not really feeling the need of those gems on her body. They appear to serve the same purpose as an explosions of horns and teeth are on monstrous pieces. I bet you can find a different way of displaying her as a goddess. Especially think about the term 'art' goddess, to me she seems more like a storm or wind goddess with the whirlwind hair and the stormcrows. I'd also like to see the whirling from her hair continued by, for example, the crows whirling around her.

Very nice work (though I agree it could be sharpened up just a little), but what's really bothering me is I can't see any way she's a goddess of art. She could be any sort of celestial being floating there. Granted 'art' is an extremely broad concept, but if feels like something more could be added to better suggest her connection with that.

I'm not in disagreements on any particular point. I would love to finish this piece. Originally I was just going to leave it as is, but when I went to sleep last night, I figured it could turn into something pretty nice if I really put as much time into the rest of it as I have in the figure, but it'll have to wait til next week. The hair didn't turn out quite the way I wanted it to, so that needs more work, and yeah, the clouds have had the least amount of thought in the whole piece... so I hear what y'all're sayin', and you're sayin' loud. I'll revisit it

Nice piece, though there are a few things that strike me as a bit off (just being nitpicky)
Her head/neck is slightly off to the left, and her right forearm (on our left) is a tad long.
I'm not saying everything should be symetrical - but in that pose its obvious to see some of the (few) flaws.
