In case you want a crit on it, try to get more consistant highlights. Work with a bigger brush ?
And show us more planes, it all looks a bit flat. Textures are good, but they can't really replace the brush work (unless you really know what you're doing).

hey daniel, thanx for always dropping by.. uhm..well, i did this last night, it's my second digital piece that i've worked on for more than 15 minutes, i've put about 1hour and a half into it cause i said to myself ok no rush, just let the music play and paint.
also, it's all on one layer, nothing really special going on.
i'm just experimenting with the tablet.
gonna do some more sefl portraits cause they're a good exercise and it's helping me to learn my way around with painting.
i promise i'll post some concepts too as soon as i get them all together and organise my stuff.

The first one is pretty good. Nice use of planes.
The second one is solid. Play around with values a bit more. Especially the higher values. Remember that (from that light source) the eyes, nose and upper lip will show most of the contrast.
Right now, i'd clean up a bit the brushwork, get some more helpful planes (not too complicated, but enough to get the lighting and details down, even though its pretty early to have the latter). And set a good range of value. Did you do a greyscale ?

did those on the run just cause i was obliged to..gonna start vehicle work too some day on a more serious level.
right now it's all about tanks and shuttles.. NO MORE PLEASEEE!!!

looking mighty fine monsieur.
hummm you got a good handle on it. Visually, its pretty solid to me. But i'd still separate the two kinds of brushs. Keep the round (or at least the one you used for the highlights) for the general shape, and the textured ones for details/textures.
Besides that, the colors are pretty good, but try to play with colors transitions to see an interesting result.

Work on more dynamic figures, seems like all your characters just stand around all static. Develop narratives, poses, interactions, make your stuff do something.

The values are nice. Something that could be interesting is adding a few very dark spots at some places just like the portrait before.

@dekus - can't do any digitals now, the tablet was borrowed. can't afford one.
@quick sketch - dunno really, just found them on the net. search for custom brushes.
