Red airborn on the ground

Hi everyone !!

Here's some pics of a new sculpt i've made couple of days ago...
No references for this one, exept for the head which is based on a full sized make-up by Peter Konig (smellybug), the body is improvised...
He's made in 50/50 grey+beige sculpey and measures nearly 7inch tall...
Forearms are disproportionated... deliberate...
I didn't sand it...maybe i would have owed !!
Symbol on his leg is the Borg sign...

ok i'll go first

considering you didn't have any reference it looks fab to me! everything looks in correct proportions, imo, and considering you didn't sand it's really smooth how did you manage that one! i really like the detail on the hands and the face is pretty scary, the nose bit reminds me of the pink orc thing in L.O.T.R. What did you use to get it so shiny? Cool job

Maybe because it's so freakingly realistically disturbing?

Looks really good!

Maybe it's within the subject matter (space zombie'ish thingy), but the pose seems a bit stiff; could be the hands, they're just hanging and pointing down.

Perhaps a head twist to give him a "direction", and a weapon or object to hold? Also - while I like the graphic on the back, it still looks a bit plain - maybe a backpack, hoses, and some greebles just to break up the large open surface? Just my .2¢.

Again though, really good stuff - and disturbing.

Dude this is really really solid, i love it.
i do hav a few beefs with it though, why is only one if his shoes spiked and the other one isnt?
also his hands are really really large.
the way u shined the armor makes it look toyish. if u hadnt varnished it, and put different scratches of missing paint and rust it would of been a LOT more solid. i do wish u went over the armor with some scratches and got rid of the varnish, but i mean that is just me.

to me it looks like a shiny toy, with a professionaly made head. and well since the head is missing the scalp i would think he got into some sort of crash or right, so u would expect some damage on the armor

I haven't take shots during the process... Otherwise i would have post them !!
First i have sculpt the nude body with muscles...first baking...
Secondly, i have made the body suit (in black) which covered the entire body...second baking...
For the armor, i baked him nearly each time i done a new piece or two...

TYSIONY: to smooth him i just use my prefered wood tool plus a soft brush with turpenoid... for the shinny look i have applied two coats of gloss varnish..

DEXTERMCSPICE: what can i said, i think it's more easy to built armor pieces over an already-baked sculpt... If you have more specific questions it will please me to answer you of best that I can...

LILALEX: Your right about the pose....is just standing there... If I had to redo him I would put more dynamics in its position !! I did not want to overload him it is for it that I have put anything in the back...

MANSLAUGTER: Your right about the missing damages on his armor...I wanted him squeaky clean but I am going to think of it...

Yep, for sure....

it's a capture screen, i just cut the full page to show it here...
As i said, the one i've done is BASED on this pic....
My goal was not to make perfect likeness...I did not even print it, I just looked at it on my computer screen...

looks incredible. great job with the pose and expression etc. it really adds to it, rather than making him look stiff. also, the base adds so much to the piece!

I love how you have different textures and shines to it... the contrast is great.

I'd give more crit if I could--- but I think it looks wonderful =)
