    Fantasy Sketchbook

I'm working on some ideas I would like to develop for a fantasy themed show in my gallery in march -- most of these works are from an idea I have about a semi-funny fantasy world which resembles a cross between mad max and terminator, with the crazy 80's style heavy metal looks and all. Any crits are appreciated.

    Best,
    Jason.

This is a sheet of potential poses for a character I want to do a painting of... any favorite? any you hate?

    Best,
    Jason.

Looks like a Bart Sears type of stlye. Good, but you need to work on the leg perspective.

Fantastic work! Just for curiosity's sake, do you use rulers and french curves? Those lines are so straight and those curves so perfect it's making me jealous.
-My work can be found at my local directory thread.

Yes, Bart Sears was an early influence... I'm actually quite suprised you caught that -- no-one else ever has...

I use French Curves and Rulers only when I have to, I was a pro inker for a while so I learned to make a pretty straight line freehand -- tho' most of my inking chops have wasted away with me pursueing fine art... I can still do it if I really try though.

I'm sorry I haven't updated this thread, recently I've been working on a couple dozen figure studies to improve my anatomy for the show -- i will update soon.

    best,
    Jason.

here are several ideas I've been bouncing around -- did close to 100 roughs to get to these final six. I need opinions and crits.

    Best,
    Jason.

PS- the robot is a quickie I did for a friends comic.

I love the concept of post apocalyptic heavymetal sci-fi.
Y'know, when I saw that first picture I was thinking "hey, that would look really sweet if it was properly colored." and then I browsed down and actually said "WOOT" out loud. XD
Indeed, amazing coloring. Only problem with the picture is that the leg seems a bit wierd. I think it's something about the perspective that makes it seem squashed and a bit too small compared to the rest of the body.

As for the later pictures. I like the first one, of the guy on the roof. It's clean and has a good mood. The others are a bit busy and makes the character dissapear somewhat in the chaos, maybe make the backgrounds a bit more diffuse to bring the character out some more, or make the scenes a little less cramped in the case of the two last. They are very dynamic though, nice work on that.
Looking forward to the next piece.

The fifth pic in the first post could use some colors, to make it easer to watch! Dig the details but the arm kidna blends into the rest of the body. Sweet work anyhow, do you have any rough sketches?
