    what to develop!!!

Hi, my 1st post on ConceptArt
Am looking to develop my art skills

Have a few images I did a while back, and want some criticism, help me improve them.
I've not had any formal training as an illustrator, so want your feedback on how these could be improved, and which ones should be dropped or perhaps developed further

    Thanks in advance

A brief summary of the ideas behind each pic (pretty basic at this stage)
1/ A lonely alien being, living on a planet with beautiful patterned rocks
2/ Not particularly original, jet bikes, in a galactic race
3/ Exploring robots, trapped, with a fellow robot rushing to his aid (in the distance, by the far planet)
    4/ A fighter escort
    5/ Underwater city
6/ Asteroid pirates! a lone ship trapped, by rock shapped vesels

I dunno the ideas on 2 and 3 aren' that original , but Im diggin the psychedelic space graphic style... Its that direction that make you unique... from this tiny sample that we see here. I would suggest you start a scetchbook and continue to explore....

My suggestion would be to interlace your drawings like this with drawings of things from life (like your mum, your trainers, that shirt hung from a chair, etc.). Learn what things actually look like by drawing them; you may think you can do it just by looking at them, but until you really train your eyes, you have to draw them.

These are really fun pieces. They are interesting. However, you need to work from life to get them to look more believable. Right now your works don't have consistent lighting, means viewer cannot tell where the light source is. And your objects lack value and form, means they look flat and viewer cannot imagine the object in 3D form.
Keep it up and do more practice with reference and from life.

    thanks

Ok, will work on these points, all makes perfect sense, referances from real objects and people and the lighting, will work through some tutorials I've seen in ImagineFX
    Thanks again
