OmertA: thanks! yes we got lots of rain today, and that's probably the biggest rain storm we will have all year. it's pretty much desert around here but with 90% snow most of the time.

purb36: lol yes i actually do take photos while driving, but i'm an expert photo taker. it's just hard to get the aperture and lens speed right when you're going 55mph. ;] but the above photos were taken after i stopped. lol

Rushlord: yeah i know! best time to take photos are at sunrise and sunset. it's when people aren't aware of the beauty in the sky and usually miss it everyday of their lives. that's why photographers are here to capture those moments.

    ---

fanart sketching is fun. ;] i learn so much from other people's design choices and having fun with it!

funny though, i asked 2 people in the past 2 days if they knew who Boba Fett was and they didn't. so sad what this world is coming to. :]

oh yea my new haircut i designed myself. i call it the "fauxmatthawk" haha

um...that makes me MORE scared than not...the correct answer was, "...but i'm an expert DRIVER."

purb36: okkkkkkkay, but still i'm an expert photo taker if i haven't wrecked while changing shutter speed and aperture while texting on my phone WHILE eating a subway sandwich WHILE singing to music, etc. :p

prsnsweeney: haha thanks, yeah it's odd how there's a generational gap in there. kids don't even know about the ninja turtles these days. it's crazy!

LumoGraphite: second person that's told me that last week. lol thanks it's another venue of art that most artist ignore. hair is what everyone sees on you. might as well make it the way you want it. eh? ;]

llex_paul: thanks!! graphite is fun now. you should have seen my posts complaining earlier about how i hate graphite. haha

sketch for today: he has granola bars in the left baggy thingy on his belt.

ps. i just saw The Losers and what a funny film. this review pretty much sums up what i think about the film.

    awesome updates!
you need to use softer brushes on this last one. The values are looking good but you could add some lighter values. keep on doing studies they are great practise. And chees bud!

Call0ps: hahaha!!! yes although i'm practicing to drive with my knees just in case my hands are chopped off in a car accident. :] thanks!

purb36: lol! it's ok. i'm a very safe driver when i don't see an amazing thing i have to photograph. and yes, i understand that, but it's these struggling years that are disheartening. i just keep pressing on and keep on drawing. thanks ;]

B-Man: thanks! i was leaving the highlights for last. i ALWAYS start those too early. i'm painting in a cross hatching way that you can only see if you're really close. i've never done it digitally before, and it's almost like painting in pencil. very fun.

Kan Muftić: ooh thank you. yes i will definitely be doing more studies than fun in my daily routine.

gotta keep pushing and not become lazy. i saw a facebook status update by bobby chiu which read, "How hard have you been working today? at 80%? 90%??.... are there any people that went at 100%???" He's such an inspiration and i've got to say i'm at probably 60%, but wishing it was 90% or 100%!

looking good, matt! both you and your arrrts! updates on the masterstudy?
nice values and edges! but more soft brushes might be good in some places.
maybe use ctrl+shift+alt E and liquify that layer a bit, to do some corrections.
her mouth should be more straight i think, and her left eye needs to be tilted and lowered.
    keep working, man!

Watch the bottom of the neck on the master study. I can't really see the life drawing stuff clear. Looking good though. Try to move more into practicing color. Be ambitious. Attack, even if failing is inevitable. You will learn a lot more. Be back soon. Also updated my sketchbook so go ahead and take a look see. Posted stuff from my blog and a couple life stuff. I am pretty terrible with my life stuff don't laugh. XD
