    Some life drawings. I had blast at California Academy of Sciences NightLife. Basically it's a museum open with a night set up like a dance club/bar. I don't drink but it was fun to draw people and animal exhibits at the same time.

    Hey buddy thought I would check back see how you are doing. Glad the avatar inspired you. Big fan or Ray Harryhausen. Clash of the Titans is still one of my frav movies of all time, think I have watched it over 30 times Lol. I am def going to do something with a Perseus and Medusa influence at some point. I like your illustration with Medusa its very playful. You seem to have so many styles that would suit so many different types of work. Concept design, illustration and animation. Its great that you are so open to exploration def don't lose this, you never know what doors it will open. Think you are spot on with the way you are approaching things. Drawing different things from life ect and integrating this into your own imagination you are def on the right path to doing really well I think just keep having fun.

    Studies notes from Micheal Hampton. I fooled around with an old sketch. Some gesture drawings.

    Glad that conceptart.org is back up.

    Here are some character designs for a children's magazines Junior that's in progress.

    Older/Younger Girl.
    -Their archetype is one is dreamer/a bit spacy, the other girl is younger is spunky and mischievous at times.

    Older/Younger Boy
    -Their archetype is one nerdy, the other is more rebel or into sports and out doors exploring.

    Bear
    -Their archetype is could be like the "papa" bear or another playmate their size.

    Ah dude, it's been a long while i didn't came on your sketchbook, and tbh, you made great improvments on your painting skills, but not as much as your drawings skills, and it's a pity to have a great rendering but with a weak drawing, so i really suggest you to draw a much as you can, do selfportraits, sketch in the street, do anatomy studies, etc ( my computer is broken, and i thought it was bad, but i'm drawing since then and it's the best thing that could happen to me, because even by drawing you improve everything, ( well exept colors ^^ ) ) So i don't know if you're in an art school or working, but during your free time, you should really put your laptop aside for a few time, and only drawing until you become kikass at it !! ! I'm looking forward to see your improvment !!

    @kikindaface That's a good idea not to be glued to the computer even during work. I have been focusing on speed with pencils to save more time on rendering. But there's also a difference between production work and vs polish fine art. One is creating efficiency towards a final product with rough concepts to get there and the other is geared in the pursuit of studies or self expression and you can take as long as you want. Lot of sketches that I post are just place holder for rendering. I agree I should be doing more polish renderings in pencils/pen. I do enjoy going to museums, parks, and cafes regularly to draw.

    I got some fresh air and practice some more landscape and signed up for figure drawing workshop.

    Rough gun concepts. I guess being frank doesn't pay...lol.

    Illustration for Junior Magazine. The Art Director asked me to exaggerated the shadows and to blank out the silhouette. They are surprise character for their next issue.

    Promo 3 completed for Junior Magazine. I felt a bit rushed since out of the blue my deadline was cut in half so they wanted it earlier. I would prefer to put some of the toys in front of stairs so there's less clutter on the rug but it wasn't my call. In center of the rug will be an AD.

    More Hogarth studies.

    Charming illustration. Forgive me if I've missed something in previous posts but did you start doing professional stuff quite recently? Freelance I suppose? Anyway I think that's cool, something I'm dreaming of doing, at least under favorable circumstances.

    Body studies are looking quite solid. Watch out on those hands holding the hammer. They're clenched way too much, some like if they're just fists not wrapping around anything. It's quite hard getting those right sometimes I've experienced.

    Btw, do you have any methods/sources for figure construction to recommend?

    Keep it up!

    @AimBiZ I'm just wrapping up some contract illustrations. There's bigger market for 3d modeling and I think you'll fit right in. You do some cool models. Good suggestions with about refining the hand grip better on the drawings.

    Figure drawing resources:

    k-chen anatomy notes for good construction:
    http://www.angelfire.com/art3/kchendemos/

    //For gestures and more of animation approach to figure drawing.
    Vilppu Drawing Manual by Glenn Vilppu

    //For action poses:
    Dynamic Figure Drawing by Burne Hogarth

    //Mechanical approach to the body:
    Bridgman's Complete Guide to Drawing from Life

    If you like methodical but accurate representational drawing try:
    The Artist's Complete Guide to Figure Drawing: A Contemporary Perspective On the Classical Tradition by Anthony Ryder.

    //Best over all:
    Andrew Loomis books. Famous Art School anatomy books.

    //I heard good things about this book, I haven't had time to go to it yet.
    Figure Drawing: Design and Invention by Michael Hampton

    Those just some suggestions. IMO. Gun Concepts.

    @FightingSeraph Thanks I'm glad you like the studies.

    Normally I don't post many articles in my sketchbook, but I think this was important.

    The Oscar protest that you didn't know happened. VFX industry in trouble?

    The Oscar protest that you didn't know happened
    If you watched the Academy Awards tonight, you may have noticed an awkward music cut-off during the Life of Pi Visual Effects acceptance speech. It may have looked like they were just stopping a long running speech, but in truth the speaker was about to mention a hot button topic of the evening, and many people think it was cut short intentionally to hide the truth.

    Most viewers were unaware of this incident and most media outlets failed to report on it, but outside the Dolby Theater, there were over 400 picketers protesting the poor state of the visual effects industry. Although it was being ignored on the televised broadcast, it started gaining momentum online during the ceremony, and is finally getting the media attention it was lacking.

    So what is the protest about?
    The film Life of Pi was nominated for Visual Effects (and won!), but sadly the studio that did the effects for the movie (Rhythm & Hues) had to file for bankruptcy a few weeks ago, and laid off close to 250 employees. The protest was named "A Piece of the Pi" to show that the VFX studio behind the film wasn't getting their share of its success.
