Hi everybody. I'm finally starting a sketchbook thread here after three life-changing days at Insomania. I still have some sketches to scan and concepts from the event to flesh out and post in the coming weeks.

Hi eddfrutos!
Thanks for the comment. Here's another piece. I'd forgotten about it and how much fun I had doing it. Might be time to go back and revisit this technique.
This is an old concept. I called it a quadran.
more random stuff...

Yaa! more sketches... some of these are character concepts based on some assignments I found in a character design book (title escapes me at the moment).

Thanks.
Here's a new personal piece. I've been working on it off and on for a long while. Not sure about the hand and legs, and the head may be too big up top, even if it is a helmet. This was a fun one though.
A work in progress. Sometimes I find little sketches on scraps of paper that keep popping up until I do something with them or throw them away...

Thought I'd drop this one here for now. Photobucket is down.
Does anyone know if you can hot link from the sketchbook thread to the DSG thread?
This is my Insect Order Oracle concept...
An alternate version of a recently completed piece called "Centipede."

Where were you when CA had "The Black Queen" EOW? You would have been a force to be reckoned with. You're experienced with diversity when it comes to the species of humanity and the methodical brush strokes that provide a skin tone collection of your own. My favorite of your sketchbook is the mosquito-prophet like being in the April 8th, 2007, 12:15 AM post. Some of your sketch exercises such as the last head profile can be improved by a more classical approach to backround and a less solidified hair technique. Potential and discipline: the guide to our physical activities. I hope any suggestions have helped - I'm looking forward to observing you progress with time.
Keep doing you

Thanks Vulgar'.
I've been just opening files with random background colors or chosing ones that have a certain mood and going from there.
I'll start looking at more classical portraiture and techniques. I get lazy about doing that. CGTalk forums has had some good Old Masters reference threads going for a while now that I should take advantage of...

Here's a link to recent, finished work. It's mostly experimental.

By identifying the different types of science fictional creature species you've created, I sense a strong point in the sketching of plumage layers and overlying thickness. The main dynamic of the art realm is within your control - best executed right off the palette. Some may find that the base of science fiction is all around them. After viewing more of your archives, Quepid remains my favorite image - an idea for a complete painting could be this man standing beside the wall of a grocery store in a Latin American country - a suggestive environment of realism. Thanks for the link.
Keep doing you
Your latest sketch resembles Paul Newman.
