Great line quality, though you should probably do some studies; you seem to keep going in circles.
say wat????though you should probably do some studies; you seem to keep going in circles.
But I do agree with the firt comment of this page..would love Bg to those figures....
anyways waiting for another ballcrunching update.
Really neat stuff, love the way you draw hands! Great stylization all around
I also think it would be cool to see some illos with a bit more complex backgrounds though.
I think i may have commented here before. Anyways, when i look at the first page and the last drawing, your stuff definitely seems tighter. That's always a nice thing to behold, especially when it was already pretty tight to start with.
I really appreciate all the love I get from you guys, even though I know my art isn't the norm around here. Big respect!
Dished - thanks! yah I have a hard time with line quality using paint markers. Think I need to do bigger pieces with them so you don't really notice the small details.
Tigermilk - would love to see the failed colouring job!
Chelsea - that's a really good idea and something I'd love to work towards. Maybe if I do a show I'd get that done and have something super cheap to sell.
A tua mãe - thanks for crit. I know my content doesn't change much but that's because I draw what I find fun and interesting. If you look at the beginning of this thread till now I know you'll see a progression of my work. I can draw dudes with hats all day and never really get bored because I'm trying new things with how I'm doing it. I know this kind of thing would never work if I was trying to get a job doing concept art for video games or movies because you have to be able to be diverse and draw all sorts of different shit(with great skill). I'm just more into listening to beats and having fun... my art won't be for everyone.
But that being said I think I should've progressed further in putting my artwork into a more finished format. It's something I really struggle with and waste too much time into thinking about not actually doing it. So in that sense I know I'm going around in circles. But like I said it's more about me just enjoying playing with pens and drawing squishy faces. cheers
I have a ton of new shit to scan but don't have the time today(hate scanning) so I thought I'd just choose my favorite piece I've done lately and let you guys check it. I feel like I've just made another progression toward where I want to go. Let me know if ya hate it(or love it, I guess)
No way Matt no excuses! Look you already have four potential buyers! Just print it out on some computer paper & ship it to my house! I NEED ONE.
& ps. I love that yellow blob of sketchy goodness. I dont know whats going on there, I just know I love it. If you made something like that more complicated & larger, it would be an awesome tshirt design.
Bhanu - I'll give you some man love right back! haha
Chelsea - I love the yellow blog too. I tried to do some more right after and they all failed horribly. I'm such a streaky artist that if I'm in a certain zone it's hard for me to duplicate the same thing later on. But I'm going to try and do more, for sure.
I just posted these in the toy forum and figured I mise as well post them in here considering I get a big amount of inspiration from the designs that go into vinyl toys. Artists like 123 Klan, Jon Burgerman and Teddytrooper. Make sure to check out Kidrobot right now because they have awesome Simpson toys! We picked up a few that I haven't taken pictures of yet.
have u ever done any toys?
we learned how to use 2 part plastic and make rubber molds. I know how to do it but ive never made a toy.... i should but getting started is expensive. i remember the 2 part plastic being like $100 a bottle.
ive also thought about using zbrush for positive prototypes.
i think ur work lends itself more to toys than mine ever would... id really like to see something youve casted
jedininjaman - My arms are out proprotion?! REALLY, fuck. shit. haha thanks man
cout<mecha - tanks
roidvoid - Toys are always in the back of my mind. Both designing and painting them. I'd like to try zbrush but I do basic 3d stuff with Maya at work and the last thing I want to do when I get home is do more 3d. 3d = shoot myself in the dome. I like 3d when I do it little here and there for fun. I don't mind it as a job but 8 hrs is all I can handle.
So I'm still working on a project for a client so the most I can get in right now is a sketch here or there. Can't wait to show you guys the finished pieces I'm doing.
AAAHHH You got the three bears! I think they're sold out online, but I can't be certain... I am so jealous. Mehhhh.
Also, by golly, I have to say it again... I drool over your style. *drooooollllll*
HEY LOOK AT DIS
Gina - yah my gf had to look far and wide to find two of them. I'm pretty stoked on them! Stoked ya dig my style
Been zoned out lately. Feels good. I've been doing 3D work all day then coming home and working on illustrations for clients and after that doing my own thing. Haven't felt this motivated in a while.
Forgot to say there's a RobG texture in the first pic
ohhhh i LOVE the direction youre going in with these guys!
the more i look at your work, the more sad i am that i dont have a piece of your art to put up on my wall.
could we maybe do a trade? ill make you a monster if you draw me one of your dudes with a bear face (im obsessed with grizzly bears) totally havin a blast. yeah? maybe? ?
hell yeah brother! Last update is fucking awesome! Love the way you tangle the patterns with the figures, makes me think of wes burt a little bit. Damn that's tough btw with the days filled up like that. But I guess it's rewarding in the end, besides you get to do what you love, right?
Can't wait to see more!
Dished, Bhanu, monsi - thanks a bunch!
Chelsea - yah, we could do something like that... I just need to start putting my work in larger formats. I still have a couple large canvas prints.
Tigermilk - thanks! Wes Burt is awesome! I think I was more influenced by Jon Burgerman lately. I like how he just puts shapes together and can rock an entire wall and it all looks perfect.
Here's another one in the same fashion. Parts of this one I love and other parts failed horribly. Learning though.
here's a couple new toy pics
and why not throw in a new Brooklyn pic!
I'll have some more art in the damn near future!
wow that first one revelationary , I like how the blues dont have that street/graphiti element...it would have made is somewhat stereotypical...awesome.... And I love you Toys
