dear admins...help

I can soft delete the spam out of here till hell freezes over... but I can't actually get rid of it. Which still leaves it hard to find the actually content of theis thread... which is too bad cause some of it is good stuff. If one of you with almighty power could ripp allong every couple of days and get rid of all the shite the rest of us humble little working mods have marked. It would make the whole world a lot tidier.. and more use full

I'm sorry you have to deal with so much spam. It really is a pain.
Thanks for keeping on top of things.
I've been coming along and permanently deleting the spam, but it's been a little while since I've done it.
I'll try to come through here regularly.

but it files my email with reports.. I get like 50 a day. Im glad you are hanging out here and contributing.. I'll do my best to deal wiuth the spam as baest I can in a timely fashion.. When I gets too bad I go on irc and ask Davi to clear out the dead threads...he's been really nice about it... and emily too

Now ... me thinks these spam bots sort of attach to certain words to determine where to drop their spammy loads.

I suggest you nix the 'discussion' portion of this section and see if they leave us alone. What to call it instead? I dunno, back to Art History perhaps? Maybe Art History and Information?

Make a honeypot - create a new sub forum above this one. Call it something like "Decoy discussion group". All the bots will see it as the top group and dump their spam there. It would also save the mods from having to separate all the spam from the real posts - just flush everything in the whole group every day or so.

i realy think this is the solution
it realylshould work. it will stop the spam. and takes the least work(a lot les than all the deleting) and causes the least confusion.

what if this started happening in our sketchbooks?

That might be a good idea if it can be integrated with the existing code easily enough. (not a programmer, clueless about that end of things.)

yeah i cleaned them up. i THOUGHT we had an option to set forums to only allow people of certain post counts, but i need to dig alittle deeper to find it...
