I tried digital screen tones...as you can see...I don't know how to do it properly lol...probably should have read a tutorial or something first...would really love some pointers on how to do this correctly

Hey, those two sp's are looking pretty good, dig the anatomy and wrinkle studies too.

I don't think there's really a specific "right" way to go about things digitally.
There are thousands of ways to achieve similar results, I guess just go with what feels natural and efficient to you.

Hey dude, that last pencil SP looks pretty good.

Some of the best reference i've found to study is slow motion/freeze frames of athletes in motion (runners, boxers, gymnastics, aerobics, bruce lee movies etc..) the amount of distortion that goes on can surprise ya sometimes to the point that it destroys that basic shapes theory that shitty "how to draw books" love to use religiously, heh!

Make sure you utilize reference fully too, freeze frame an image of ,for example, a boxer mashing some poor dudes head in, study and draw it till you can remember key elements then apply it to a drawing from imagination.

You really have to be observant and hard on yourself to benefit from it or else your missing the point of doing them, that believability that makes that still frame work is what you want to aim for with your improvised sketches.

Ok enough of the Yoda shit, see ya at life drawing mate

Manga studio have a very nice collection of half tone etc.Huge collection
But i think you can download some similar patterns for photoshop to load them in the fill tool(just change the foreground to pattern and select your halftone patterns)

But i wanna see more pencils
    see ya

Bigtayter: thanks man, do you mean the anatomy studies or the girl wearing a leather dress?
Helioth: yeah you're right, i just figured screen tones should be applied quite quickly, the amount of time it took me to get to that result kind of defeats the purpose i reckon...
Rusty: thank you so much man...I'll definitely try and remember your advice, more yoda shit please !!!
kingkostas: thanks for that man! I appreciate it!

Bought a Wolff Carbon Pencil today, these pencils are amazing! they cover the value range of charcoal, yet have the durability of pencils...life drawing with these are so fun! kinda messed around in the beginning though, tried to figure out a good technique to use them. try them out if you can find them!

Lovin the studies at the top of the page bro, and the last batch of life drawings are looking sweet.

Self portrait's are going good as well, but they all kinda look the same. I know that's retarded as its you and it's not as if you have plastic surgery every day, but just draw them in different lights and different poses.

P.S oh and where do you go for life drawing?

Again I love the energy of this thread,
    keep it up

Keep using those pens...those look really awesome...same with the marker sketches.
I don't know much about digital screentones, but I'd think that using smaller dots would help...they're kind of overpowering at that size, I think.
Loving the carbon pencil figure studies too...So I've heard of those things but never tried them. They look like a blast though! I'll look into them!
The SPs look phenomenal. Huge development!

    witty

I think... finding a balance between your 'cleaner' drawings and less controlled charcoal style will be good for you.
Don't let the medium dictate that much?

Hah, you look baked (stoned) in your last portrait ^-^

    Endure the confusion!

Don't just say "that's my style", as you rightly do not at the moment... after a couple of years either! Keep evolving yo
