wow, awesomes tuff D: so subscribing to this!
Good to see you back. You have been practising. Love the guy with teeth but the portrait of the guy with the cigg is the winner. Hang around don't disappear for another year.
Lovely sketchbook=)!your rendering and coloring is just awesome nothing to say mate your works is very inspirational to me i want to see more thanks..! ^_^
Awesome artist and friends
Glad you like it ~ and welcome back.
Thanks, and hopefully I'll stay around - well if I get work again I might go off and that wouldn't be too bad for myself - but yeah - I'll try to hang on better this time.
Thanks - and Welcome back then ~
The teeth and weirdness are usually relaxing - like todays piece - just mellow and calm.
Saara Np. I'll check back from time to time - can take for ever since there are so many, but I'll be around
& Thanks and I like the weird one in #375 as well - was a moment of peace when doing it.
Thanks, I'll try to live up to that
Heh, jo det tog tid ~ o tack o/
Thanks & It's hard to pin point one, or even a few, artists - I liked working with the team at SLS (my prior workplace) and Thomas, Robert, Ramon, Jose, Stefano, Mike, Stefan & Mattia - as for artists I like many and don't have one. Or in the next piece I'm looking at Rembrandt & Matt Elliott (musican - stuff like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bP6CV...eature=related ) - the next I might be reading a book, or repairing floor boards etc. I got reference books by various artists - but it's too much of a mix to point out any. I prefer a large consumption over a small, and I prefer to pick artists and subjects far away from what I'm currently am doing to expand my view a bit. I hope that helps a little
Just a short monster doodle - lots to do if I would ever finish it but probably not - shoulder is done or so, almost, maybe.
WIP and abandoned.
i just had to check back a few pages to make sure it was still the same guy posting
seems you picked up a few tricks (from wb hand?), cause this new stuff pops out far more! and you've got a better balance between soft and hard edges, which probably helps that cause. nice monsterdude!
the last one is just superb that creature is really detailed and rendering and blending is wow especially for a doodle only thanks 4 the comment keep it going share more!^_^
Awesome artist and friends
Great rendering! I can't say much else than I enjoyed looking through your SB.
Here is my Sketchbook. Please have a look if you have time. Thanks.
Honestly, I haven't commented in your SB that much before because I can only asspat you instead of saying something of use to you... But hey, whatever.
I love this new one .
I love the purple monster!!!!
love your style..and im definitely not complaining about the gore levels....ME WANT MORE BLOOOOD!
Was doing something less silly, but in the end just ended up giving it more teeth than I ever intended, oh well ~ was relaxing enough.[/QUOTE]
I love the smille in this one, lol.
Some serious concepts here, and some amazing studies, congratulations.
Man you rock. I'm so in love with your art !
My weekly SB : http://www.conceptart.org/showthread.php?t=267019
Thanks, and same to your output
Thanks Vulgar`- I'll have a look at the weekly later this week - need to wrap up three pieces first.
But I need to do environments again, and the competition would be good for me.
Ah yes, I often seem to make my creations smile ~ and thanks!
Thanks, that was a fun DSG to do.
You usually get some blood or/and gore with me from time to time, but normally with a hint of happiness somehow.
No need to comment, just if you want to - and I'm grateful that you do
& I can honestly say that most of the time my ego can do with an asspat or two ~ so again I'm grateful for it ~
& I know how hard it is to be constructive - I try from time to time, normally I just say how much I like peoples work and I suspect most people are more than happy with it.
Thanks - same to you.
Thanks - Always a pleasure seeing you come by ~
Thanks - it got pink and rather soft in a good way.
I think the change came close to two years ago when I was working in Amsterdam - just a natural change from working with other conceptartists, especially the lead and senior guys (Thomas and Robert) - but only the things from last year and this year displays that change. But WB did help as well, as have many others - I did do two or three pieces that feels a bit like I was trying to make William pieces, I like them but sadly they both fall short of what WB does (they are not in the thread). & Thanks.
Some random quick sketches. The vamp/monster might be WIP (orginal is 512/512 so maybe not)
i'd actually be interested in those "wannabe-hands" (heh, shortens itself to wbhand regardless ). the vampiredude is fucking righteous, you should put some finishing touches on him!
I just love your work, very interesting POV's, and super nice volume shading!!!!!
hey man, i love these posts. that cutaway creature is too damn cool! thanks for stopping by my sb. the kind words mean a lot to me.
aight. i gotta crash and get up early. keep on rocking these paintings!

Hey dan! looking good man..looking good...i just have a question...you know the latest piece you did..they gray scale one...i was wondering if you use a blender of some kind? i use blur's good brush set..the add water to blend..but sometimes it doesnt really give me good results...ur blends are so friggin smooth! mind sharing how you do it?
Now crit the shit out of me!
A sketch for me is a loose not overly serious piece that is more about getting your ideas down - sometimes they can take a decent amount of time - I'd say 1½-2 hours for the piece in question as I was watching/listening to a movie at the same time.
So dunno, sometimes I like to call things sketches/doodles if they are just random experiements without purpose and goal.
Heh, thanks - I'll probably stop doing them due to it - don't like to do stuff I already feel to comfortable with. & yes the fast landscapes are fun
The big nosed thing that I did for random trainging? I was thinking retarded space featus more than parrot, but sure
Thanks - I do try ~
Very rarely, or when I don't have a laptop or desktop at hand - did a few last summer when I did a 2 week road trip and then during a funeral 1½ years ago - did acrylics and such in the past, but more or less stopped. Could look into it again and there are some in the thread somewhere - I think - but thanks
I'll see if I can't dig up those pieces actually, and I'll consider fixing up the vamp.
Conniekat8, Loathsome, Ludic
I mostly paint in Sai nowdays - but normally I only use an airbrush and two different settings for softness (and then I'll use some variations with opacity and minimum size).
I do use two brushes in Sai that does blend - two variations of the brush, one with little bleed and one with a lot more - the first I also use with a flat brush head on a regular basis.
But most of the soft transitions you mention is just simply normal brushes and then I pick colours in the border area of two colours and paint over the border.
So 1-4 are my normal brushes - here exemplified in black and then 5 is really hard and 6-7 are the ones with bleed - and there are two 7s, but I only changed the bitmap used from one to the other - same settings otherwise and the same red colour used
Random landscape - would need to fix perspective issues - and I don't like my own render - dunno, might fix it up later or abandon it. I would also crop or/and extend this to get a different aspect ratio - I just normally start with a 1024x1024 or 512x512 so they often get square early on (I actually had the sides cropped earlier and that's why they are less developed).
