Good to see you back. You have been practising. Love the guy with teeth but the portrait of the guy with the cigg is the winner. Hang around don't disappear for another year.

Glad you like it ~ and welcome back.

Thanks, and hopefully I'll stay around - well if I get work again I might go off and that wouldn't be too bad for myself - but yeah - I'll try to hang on better this time.

Thanks - and Welcome back then ~

The teeth and weirdness are usually relaxing - like todays piece - just mellow and calm.

    & Thanks

Saara Np. I'll check back from time to time - can take for ever since there are so many, but I'll be around

& Thanks and I like the weird one in #375 as well - was a moment of peace when doing it.

    Shad-
Thanks, I'll try to live up to that

Thanks & It's hard to pin point one, or even a few, artists - I liked working with the team at SLS (my prior workplace) and Thomas, Robert, Ramon, Jose, Stefano, Mike, Stefan & Mattia - as for artists I like many and don't have one. Or in the next piece I'm looking at Rembrandt & Matt Elliott (musican - stuff like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bP6CV...eature=related ) - the next I might be reading a book, or repairing floor boards etc. I got reference books by various artists - but it's too much of a mix to point out any. I prefer a large consumption over a small, and I prefer to pick artists and subjects far away from what I'm currently am doing to expand my view a bit. I hope that helps a little

Just a short monster doodle - lots to do if I would ever finish it but probably not - shoulder is done or so, almost, maybe.

i just had to check back a few pages to make sure it was still the same guy posting
seems you picked up a few tricks (from wb hand?), cause this new stuff pops out far more! and you've got a better balance between soft and hard edges, which probably helps that cause. nice monsterdude!

I think the change came close to two years ago when I was working in Amsterdam - just a natural change from working with other conceptartists, especially the lead and senior guys (Thomas and Robert) - but only the things from last year and this year displays that change. But WB did help as well, as have many others - I did do two or three pieces that feels a bit like I was trying to make William pieces, I like them but sadly they both fall short of what WB does (they are not in the thread). & Thanks.

A sketch for me is a loose not overly serious piece that is more about getting your ideas down - sometimes they can take a decent amount of time - I'd say 1½-2 hours for the piece in question as I was watching/listening to a movie at the same time.

So dunno, sometimes I like to call things sketches/doodles if they are just random experiements without purpose and goal.

    & Thanks.

    AustenFM
Heh, thanks - I'll probably stop doing them due to it - don't like to do stuff I already feel to comfortable with. & yes the fast landscapes are fun

    p sage
The big nosed thing that I did for random trainging? I was thinking retarded space featus more than parrot, but sure

    ccsears
    Thanks - I do try ~

    NickyBeats
Very rarely, or when I don't have a laptop or desktop at hand - did a few last summer when I did a 2 week road trip and then during a funeral 1½ years ago - did acrylics and such in the past, but more or less stopped. Could look into it again and there are some in the thread somewhere - I think - but thanks

    Carnifex
I'll see if I can't dig up those pieces actually, and I'll consider fixing up the vamp.
    & Thanks.

    Conniekat8, Loathsome, Ludic
    Thanks!

    Bing!
I mostly paint in Sai nowdays - but normally I only use an airbrush and two different settings for softness (and then I'll use some variations with opacity and minimum size).

I do use two brushes in Sai that does blend - two variations of the brush, one with little bleed and one with a lot more - the first I also use with a flat brush head on a regular basis.

But most of the soft transitions you mention is just simply normal brushes and then I pick colours in the border area of two colours and paint over the border.

So 1-4 are my normal brushes - here exemplified in black and then 5 is really hard and 6-7 are the ones with bleed - and there are two 7s, but I only changed the bitmap used from one to the other - same settings otherwise and the same red colour used

Random landscape - would need to fix perspective issues - and I don't like my own render - dunno, might fix it up later or abandon it. I would also crop or/and extend this to get a different aspect ratio - I just normally start with a 1024x1024 or 512x512 so they often get square early on (I actually had the sides cropped earlier and that's why they are less developed).
