    Red face Sfumato/texture/glazing

My english isn't very good, so I'll try to write the question here the best way I can.

Do you have any tips on how to "'paint' sfumato"? I can't find a good description of this technique (actually, the best information I found was here): http://www.time4me.com/theme/art/mona/3.htm

What do you suggest? Using the fingers for a proper blending of the tones? (I use acrylics).

Also, I was admiring Dali's "Still Life- Fast Moving":

...! Any tips on glazing? This painting is so 'realistic' =P! Look at the water going out of the bottle!
And the textures are... hum, I don't know how to describe it... thin! How did he do that?

Thanks you, hope you could understand what I meant. =)

Leonardo Da Vinci used it alot and was a founder of the technique. There are many books about him and many of his notes are published. I would go right to the source and follow his technique.

I would suggest not using acrylics. The subtle manipulation of transparent layers is something that depends on the slow drying nature of oils.

It can be done with acrylics with airbrush. Or with very skilled hand with a brush and a very solid understanding of color. I never could do it.
I think you are awesome, and I wish you the best in your endeavors, but I am tired of repeating myself, I am very busy with my new baby, and I am no longer a regular participant here, so please do not contact me to ask for advice on your career or education. All of the advice that I have to offer can already be found in the following links. Thank you.

Well, thank you guys for the comments. I'm going to practice different ways of blending now (I bought a small canvas for practicing techniques, it's helpfull).
