Eazy Eclectic Wonderland (Jan 27. Taste of Chicago)

This is my first real foray into photography. I'm really starting to like it, but I figured I needed more practice. So here it goes. Hope to keep this updated regularly. Hope you like it. Crits always welcome, both brutal and nice. Thank you for stopping by.

Thank for your reply, Samsite. Photobucket seems to shrink the images. If you're still interested, a bigger image can be seen here: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/34038390/

    Thanks again

nice shot, i like the tons also, the only change i would make would be a slight crop off the top of the image, i know its all about the sky and the color tones but there is just a little to much sky IMO. Apart from that, all in all good start

    Hey man!

You got some great potential here. I really love that first Tree Top. Actually I really like The Tree too. Really moody stuff. Just the stuff that i love about photography. Ever thought of doing a "Trees" series. I just thougt of that but i no longer have a camera

I also landed on your deviant art gallery. You have some great stuff there as well. Keep it up. You have a great artistic potential... unlike me. And thanks for droppin by my thread. Dont be a stranger.

Thanks for the Response. Yeah I did actually think of a tree series because I recently spend some time in the woods of Northern Wisconsin and took a decent number of tree pics. Not as much as I would have liked but...here's another.

EDIT: I realized photobucket shrunk this one a bit too, so here's a link to a bigger version, if anyone is interested.

I'm on a roll here. Should be doing work, but pictures are more fun. Here are two of the same subject. I kind of like them both for different reasons, what do you think?

First things first. I'd normally say keep away from shaky stuff. But i like the way it came out. Feels like its vibrating with lots of sound. Definitelly a fav. It's not traditional photgraphy but who am I to complain about that. Kick ass stuff.

About the second pic, I dont get what ur tryng to show with it. I guess it one of those pure aestethic stuff. Well, go for the BW version. It hase more personallity, imho.

    Nice stuff. Keep shooting.

To answer your question about the color, there are many ways that can be done. You could play around with layers, for example. In the case of the Tripod Baby, that was just a history brush, I believe. Hope that helps.

eazym> You are quite obviously developing your own unique style of photography, i like your use of the lighting situations, and the colors you choice with your photos, the main concern, now don’t take this the wrong way, its that there is no content in the photos that you immediately think, wow. Technically there are really good shots, there all nicely exposed and have a interesting color balance. You just need to work on what you have available to take the shot of. I have the same problem, its by no means of a attack, just a problem that plagues us all

    Thanks you samsite,

I think I know what you mean. It is probably what led Le Gab to say something about the picture not being about anything but 'pure aesthetics' [or some thing]. You don't have to tell me not to take something the wrong way, by the way. I welcome the harshest criticism you can give me; I think I will improve because of it. Especially since I'm kind of new at this and can only go on what I think 'looks good.'

So thanks for the reply, and if you have any suggestion on how to overcome this problem, I'll gladly listen and try to learn.

hey eazy, thanks for having a look at my sketchbook. good to see you in the photography section, too. first photo is my favourite by far. has some almost "ikebana like" feeling to it. very soothing and balanced. good choice of the format and the colors are fine, too.
in the picture of glick i think the sharp background distracts a bit from the person. would have been no problem if it was rooftop and diagonals only (they would've been good for the pic, because they lead the eye to the person) but this...dunno...lamp (?) over his head is really strange. other than that i like it.
the second tree pic from yesterday looks cool, too. but i would've probably cropped the whole lower part. uhm, sounds harsh, sorry. it's just that the upper part would fit perfectly to your very first photo as some sort of a "mini series"...
really like your simplistic style, would love to see more portraits from you. cheers!

Thanks you very much, Stine. You're right about the tree thing. I actually finished the second one before the first, you're seeing those in the order of upload, sorry about that. That's an interesting idea though, had I cropped the bottom, it would look a lot like the first tree.

Thank you for the portrait encouragement. Those are my favorite to draw, and I would like a chance to snap more as well. Like I said to Sam, no criticism is too harsh, so don't worry, speak your mind.

    Thanks again.

Thanks for the comment. Its interesting you should mention something like Sin City. I've always been a big fan of Noir and I guess its having an effect on me.

    Here're two more, less dark.

BW set, i like. Really nice. Great job.

These latest pics are missing that certain something. If i do pay close attention to the first one, it's lacking that certain cool and alive color that nature shots usually have. Besides, its way to small

The second one, the one with the duct is overexposed. I really like over exposed stuff but in this case i think that the composion was calling for something darker and crisper. In case you were trying to point out the grandeur of the rust and the pipe, and were going for something really urban-like powerfull daylight was a bad choice.

A good example of urban photography on this forum is SamSite's graffity set. Check it out here. It's some of my fav photo's on the forum: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=67414

Keep up, your doing a great job. Cheers!

Thanks for the response. The last two were from around the time I got my camera and discovered the macro function and went shoot-crazy, paying little attention to time of day.
