Cracking work as always
Just I have to say something about the charcoal portrait on the right. I see those loose "bits" that escape the form boundary around the edges of the face (which seems to be a Lavender style, which i have no problem with), but it makes him look like he has a fuzzy beard. Which is awesome in itself but I can see he doesn't one from the other parts of the drawing. So, its possibly over emphasised. Saying that, those are both kick ass portraits.
different kind of update, a sketch of me done by my friend Alex =p *exposed*
i like it!

just wonderful work - love how simple you make something I, and most, struggle with look - been coming for some time but been finding it hard to post anything as what can I say but it's glorious as it's just page after page of gorgeous pieces.
So I'll just cave and take the easy route and declare my love for your work instead.

Heya call0ps, we haven't spoken in a long time - at least not since after our little SSG folded ^_^
How're you doing these days?
I just spent the last 8 ours updating my CA.org sketchbook, photographing, and manually uploading 290+ images online. Don't want to do that again! Hopefully the batch uploader will be available soon.
Anyway, I'm going to attend the Feng Zhu Design School in a few short weeks, for about a year. Just waiting on Visas atm, but everything should be fine.
Still doing fine work as always, keep it up!

Hey Call0ps 'baby pig' looks good but very weird. I really love your mark making on the charcoal portrait especially in the hair, and I love seeing the pastels and oils. I really do enjoy your updates.![]()

another Zorn study, i find hard to get the edges and texture in digital to make it look more "interesting"

The onion and kettle life studies are next gen, serious pro level exhibition of skill. That knowledge is seeping into your digitals it seems!

Really gorgeous charcoal portrait, and the pig head made me snicker.![]()
at the moment the edges all seem a little lost because the brushes don't have much opacity, maybe try this brush, i've been using it lately, i believe it's originally maciej's from one of the imagineFX CDs, tweaked a bit.
it's a gradient brush that lets you control edges well depending on which direction you stroke in, split into 3 angle controls for different approaches; 1:less controlled marks, maciej' original; 2nd rotates more like a brush if you have an intuos 2 or later with tilt; 3rd i use mostly, easiest to control edges, i guess you'll see from experimenting.
don't know about the texture, usually a soft edged airbrush with a texture works for me for applying some in some crappy speedpaint, but i wouldn't feel right slapping some on on a zorn study, I'm sure there's a better way
studys are looking great!
dide u try painter they have digital tradicional media quiet good !
still life tip top!
cheers!!
thank guys, =) i guess you have to spend an extra time just working on edges and texture just for that purpose, need to deal with it =D
Great.. I like especially the portraits and mostly charcoal drawings..
*TEN BOB ROSSES SEAL OF APPROVAL!!!*
Dat still life is so crazy, the speculars are very well done and the onions are well-rendered with economical brushstrokes
As for your digital studies, maybe experiment with making your own brushes? sample some filbert brushstrokes, and change the attributes for more interesting edges, thats how I would approach it, otherwise, wat tehmeh said
