Known to be extremely deceptive in their quest for the decidedly sweet,
the chweetoofs do whatever they can to get their just deserts.
lurking in bushes, alleyways and trees,
they wait for the happy go lucky trick or treaters that happen by.
using their many 'arms' they stretch out to snag candy by the bag full with sticky 'fingers'.
once their bounty is consumed, they retreat into the darkness
giggling madly until they have a sugar crash in their dens.

concept: The Halloweendragon
Serpentus Dulcis
The Halloweendragon is benign creature with a weakness for sweets. It is dormant for most of the year. Around Halloween it awakes and forms a symbiotic relation with a child, usually of very young age. Because of their young age, and because of the friendlyness of the Halloween dragon, the children are often not afraid of these dragons. The creatures benefits from this relation by getting a share in the sweets and the child benefits by scaring the adults into giving lots and lots of candy. Once the host child becomes to old for halloween, they seek out a new partner in "crime". Often desperate Halloween dragons without host are found raiding sweet shops.

A Lorath survives on sugar. These creatures survive in the dark shadows, only coming out at night. They feed on sugar and will not harm anything unless it comes between them and sugar. His black appearance is to blend in with the night, and he preys on innocent children on Halloween night to retrieve their candy.

Their origin basically unknown... The Zoogy are a species of animal that don't handle sugar too well. They Basically become sugar fiends. The reaction is very similar to those people on crack. The Zoogy have no problem doing whatever must be done to get their fix, including biting off limbs with their sharp beaks. They prefer though to do it the easiest way possible thus Halloween is like a crack infested Christmas for them. Children beware!

The Bubblebum has evolved to live in cinemas, where it scavenges on dropped sweets, popcorn and fizzy drinks. It is dark in colour, helping it to blend in with its environment, large eyes and tenticular arms helping it to locate food in the dim lighting conditions. It's digestive processes produce a lot of gas which it uses to analy inflate bubblegum balloons to give it buoyancy. This helps to keep it off the floor and stops it from getting trampled, it also gives it the silhouette of a human form, especially when the sticky bubble becomes covered with fluff, hair and other debris. Quite often that person getting up and moving irritatingly in front of us isn't a person at all, it’s just the Bubblebum changing scavenging locations. When irritated or alarmed it has a tendency to pop it’s bubble by over-inflating it, usually at the jumpy parts of a movie, or so it seems. It then has to regenerate it’s bubble, which in the virgin state often gives rise to shouts of “Oi, sit down baldy”. A shy and nervous creature by nature, the Bubblebum is not to be taken lightly. You know you’ve pissed it off when you return from the cinema with Bubblegum stuck to the back of your head!

The children looked back and noticed a stumbling, obese cowboy behind them. The faint whimper in the air echoed "can..candy...c-candy" but they stared to make out the child's face rather than offer any of their stash. It didn't take long before the gluctus nub revealed itself. These creatures are clever in that they will retain the clothing children wear for trick-or-treating and dress their tongues in uniform. Usually they can stalk a child several meters behind, leaving their tongue to confront the children for candy. They are very stubborn creatures and have an incredible sweet tooth. The majority of its prey cannot hand over the candy fast enough to evade their demise.

The addiglut is a bizarre creature by any measure. Ninety per cent of an addiglut's body is liver and pancreatic tissue. Although its metabolism is natural for the addiglut, one might think of it as hypoglycemic or hyperinsulemic, constantly feeding on any sugar it can get its bony hands on. An addiglut must comsume five times its body weight in sugar per day or it will slip into a coma and perish. The addiglut's right head eats for the left liver and its left head eats for its right liver. A dead addiglut is not a pretty sight, as its swollen tissues swell even further, often exploding into a foul, bilious mess that is not easy to clean up. A hungry addiglut can be even more tedious to cope with, as they will go to any lengths to find their daily requirement of sugar, including stealing candy from babies. It's usually easiest to simply keep an addiglut fed.

This creature, attracted by the scent of apples. realiseses not only tastey apples are available. BUT so are some tastier humans!!! During haloween, this nastie crawls out of the small rock pools and local lakes ad rivers to come ashore, and tend to rest in barrells of water with apples ready for some good old apple bobbing. Now - deepending on how lucky you are, you may manage to get an apple.....orrr as you can see, our little "friend" attached to your face, and most likely pulled in as well, as it anchors itself to the bottom. But of course, if no humans are caught it still has a nice apple dinner ready for it.......win win situation. Unless a child vomits in the barrel

The creatures of the genus Cucurbitacephalus, more often simply called Punkinheads, are common, raccoon-sized omnivores on the Northern Continent of the planet Oyonyo. In their forested habitat, they eat practically everything and go practically everywhere. A tough, beak-like mouth and several types of teeth allow them to eat everything from small animals to berries to incredibly hard nuts. Their claws allow them to climb trees with ease and to dig for roots, grubs, and other goodies, and their striped coats are warm and nearly waterproof. During mating season, the head, claws, and tail of both sexes become a brilliant pink, as opposed to their grayish color throughout the rest of the year. The males also sprout a "crown" of several flexable spike-like structures, as if the color display wasn't impressive enough.
Despite their abundance and small size, Punkinheads are only rarely preyed upon in the wild, making them trusting and easily approachable. Their opportunistic nature and natural tameness bring them into frequent close contact with human residents and tourists, to the level of becoming a nuisance, in some cases. The tourists delight in the creatures' antics and toss all sorts of snacks and treats to the creatures. This behavior brought no harm to either the humans or the animals, so it was condoned. For a while. The troubles began, according to the popular explanation, when a particular visitor--a fat, sloppy, sugar-loving fellow--began to toss candies and other sweets to the creatures. The Cucurbinacephalids quickly developed a sugar craving. They spat out the more bland treats and ate only candy; if no candy was offered, the Punkinheads would get pushy, often ripping into tourists' bags and belongings in search of sugar, in rare cases even attacking the tourists themselves. The practice of feeding Punkinheads was immediately outlawed. As a result, the local economy nearly suffered, for the lovable creature's were the region's chief attraction. So, the local government compromised; visitors would be able to feed the Punkinheads year round but were limited to bland "Punkin treats" which could be bought at local vending machines for about fifty cents (.8 standard credits). However, one Autumn night a year, people are allowed to shower the Pumpkinheads with candies and treats galore. Taking the name from obscure ancient texts, they decided to call this day of sugary gluttony "Halloween."

These creatures lives with farmers. They act like scarecows and in return, they get food from the farmers. (hopefully)
However, their favorite food is.............. SWEETS !!! OMG !!!
Every year when it's halloween, they see lots of children dressed up ringing doors to get sweets. To aquire those godly sweets they try to act like those children.
Due to it's stupidness they think to achieve that by putting pumpkins on their head. Even worse, they don't see the difference between a pumpkin and a melon. Because melon smells better than pumpkins, they use melons...
Nasty part:
Once someone opens a door, they charge in the house, tackling/pushing the children aside and will stalk the sweetgiver untill they get some sweets.
Once they have some sweets, they happily walks out and gets ready to charge in the next house.

He's a Witch's Coco. A pet that most Witches own. They guard their owners through the year, but on Halloween they are set free for one night to chomp on as much chocolate and sweets as possible. The are gentle and usually quite playful. At times they'll even be seen walking around with kids to miscellanious houses in the neighbourhood. However, if the Coco finds an unwilling neighbour, his potruding daggers clench like a fist around the head of neighbour, causing instant death.

This recent transplant to Earth will do anything to get the sweet, sweet sugar it needs to survive in our climate. It's body isn't quite adapted yet, and large acne pustules will erupt all over its body, but the Stikkius just doesn't care. It's got to have candy, and will try to impersonate an Earth child if that's what it takes (although these creatures are too stupid to make a good costume.) It will beg and plead, and threaten to break off one of its zits in your face! You better give it some candy!

The Miscreahaunt originally thrived as a simple foraging creature, living off glucose from seasonal autumn fruits, and hibernating the remainder of the year. Quite by accident, and due to their uncanny resemblance to children wearing a certain customary Halloween costume, they fell in with clusters of human children on their Halloween rounds, mistaking some of them for their own kind. A new food source was quickly established, based on the superhigh glucose yield of the candy force-fed into their pumpkin-like maws by distracted human adults in doorways who never seemed to notice their organic nature.
Such high-energy, sugary diets now allow the Miscreahaunt to hibernate for longer periods, emerging only one evening in the fall, when their unique foraging methods seem to be the most effective.
The elongated outer digit of the Miscreahaunt's left hand, previously used to pluck low-hanging fruit, is now used to push glowing buttons in doorways, drop swinging metal levers, or to beat frustratedly on doors -- all behaviors which result in being fed.
Reproductive Habits
These short, bulbous creatures have very peculiar reproductive habits. Their overriding instinct is to never reproduce where they are fed, yet, to increase the odds of fertilization, they prefer to do so in areas frequented by their own kind.
The females' rear sections are dotted with ova which bear strong likenesses to chicken eggs. These white spheres are thown, with some force (they must break to be viable for fertilization), by the female when she finds a suitable location for a nest, which ideally are well-lit, frequented by other Miscreahaunts (or costumed children mistaken for such) and provide no food supply, or an unsuitable one. Expect to find large numbers of shattered Miscreahaunt eggs near homes passing out loose change, reading material, sugar-free candy, stickers, or toothbrushes. In some unusual cases, these inappropriate foods produce violent allergic reactions, causing the creature to urinate uncontrollably in the doorway--miniature Mormon bibles are frequently blamed for this.
The Miscreahaunt males have a singular sex organ concealed just underneath the rear section of their protective skin. A stubby, muscular pincer harnesses a very long, paper-like gamete rolled into a thick spiral. This gamete is forcefully ejected from the rear of the Miscreahaunt when it has found a female's nest. This ejaculate is fired rather inaccurately, and tends to get caught on trees, lampposts, and even strewn over cars. Thus, to ensure fertilization of the female eggs, the male Miscreahaunt usually has enough capacity for several launchings.
This process tends to be misunderstood by human adults, who in their ignorance blame miscreant children for "papering" or "egging" their property. Those recognizing Miscreahaunt spores used this misconception to give the creature its name.

The Rabid Dog from Hell Wagged his Tail Like a Puppy
"and who you might be?" asked the old lady, looking at the Rabid Dog from Hell at her porch. "I am..." the dog broke his sentence to gag complusively and then puked a puddle of worm-ridden rancid milk at the sidewalk, coughed at couple of times, then resumed. "I'm sorry. I am Michael the Archangel, M'am. Trick or treat!"
"if you are an Archangel, where are your wings?" the old lady asked with a smile. "I am Michael after Lord Lucifer cut his wing with a rusty knife at the final judgment, M'am!", the Rabid Dog from Hell replied, peeking behind the lady for some candy. "All right, but next time I want to at least see a halo!" and reached inside, bringing a large bowl full of deliciously chubby children, of all flavours.
"Here is one for you." The Rabid Dog from Hell immediately unhinged his jaw tand swallowed the rosy-cheeked boy whole, pushing him down his throat until it reached the dog's bare ribcage. with his arms hanging inbetween the ribs, the kid looked more like a prisioner than a meal in the wolf's belly; his little hands still clutching the candy bag he died with, runover by a car at halloween night.
"Thank you M'am!" chocolate spiders and jelly worms spread on the pavement as the rabid dog from hell strolled towards the next house. What was left of his digestive system sniffed the boy's scalp and drooled acid. The sweet taste of burnt skin made its way to the dog's mouth. He howled at the dark side of the moon, still the brightest light of the night, felling truly happy; and his happiness was the same in the deepest suburbs of hell as it would be in the highest clouds of the heavenly city.

Did you ever thought about a parasite wich sits on your lollypop?
You should have done because on halloween there are some nasty parasites that like sweet stuff.
No human has ever seen this creature in real before because it sends a mystirious scent out that will make it disappear for the human eye.
When it gets into your mouth it will scramble upward in brains direction.
If it is attained at your brain it will make you feeling hungry and you`ll eat so much candy as you can until you get so fat that you'll die...
It sounds crazy but you should make a photo the next time before you eat some candy

This animal is the reason for the halloween event at all...
Hundreds of years ago this pigs were living in the wild forests and they came down to the villagers once a year when the cold winter broke in...because they couldnt find food anymore in the wild...so they were lurking around houses in the dark to search for food in the trashes and gardens...now this pigs have a butt which looks like a pumpkin, they even have this eyes and mouth design...with glowing and all (maybe they need it for mating, it's not known)...the villagers as they heard loud noises outside, went off the houses and saw this scary pumpkin faces (butts), moving around and snorting etc...the villagers closed the doors and stayed in the houses in fear, the next morning they went outside and they saw all the trash searched through and the food was gone also all food in the gardens....so the villagers decided to bring food outside so the "monsters" will get it next time and leave them alone......this happened so and since then it was an annual tradition to bring food at halloween to this scary monsters...as years passed by people understood what this monsters really were...only strange looking pigs...but as humans are they continued this as a tradition, since the pigs died out because of hunting and cold and bitter winters, kids were involved in this event as they weared clothes like the monsters to get sweeties from the people and people gave them...the pumpkins were used as a general decoration and symbol for this past story of their ancients...now that's the story how halloween started and what this creature is...the PUMPKIN PIG!

concept: The lollypop Monstrosity
Known for it’s ugly looks the lollypop monstrosity lives in an abstract dimension not known to mankind. Every Halloween the creature opens a portal to our world. It has one mission, to appear before young kids with bags full of lollypops and candies, and convince them to hand over their tasty loot or it will devour them whole. Fortunately for them the lollypop Monstrosity is completely harmless. The very sight of it though, sends the kids screaming home to their parents leaving all their candy behind for the creature.

The Boogitty Boo has the esteemed pleasure of being the Boogieman's pet. It lives off fear, but will settle for the occasional chocolate bar if need be. Fear, or the potential of fear, being at its highest on Halloween, the Boogieman releases Boogitty Boo to run amok and have some fun scaring children and adults alike. Due to commercialization, it has become harder and harder for the Boogitty Boo to prey on fear, (the increase in "cute" costumes and desensitization from TV doesn't help either). With fear dwindling, the Boogitty Boo is now forced to sellout and prey on candy during Halloween as well as attend horror movie festivals and Japanese game show audiences during the rest of the year.

”Look Gretchen! Here is another one! What did I tell you? This must be the way to Candy-land!”
Hans was very pleased with the adventure he had staged for himself and his sister. Gretchen laughed expectantly, and didn’t seem to question the sweet hanging by a thread. It could have worked out very good had not another entity picked up the trail as well. An actual Candy-land Demon Boar was upon them. Hans would do better to leave the caramel behind, grab his sister and run.
The Demon Boars of Candy-land are tremendously sweet-loving creatures which can smell and distinguish any kind of candy for miles. They usually move around in larger groups and eat anything sugary (and much else that comes) in their way. Their horns as well as their claws are edible and tasty. These are used to attract females in the breeding season and can function as emergency nutrition in extreme cases. Since the demonic boars seldom venture far from Candy-land such occasions are exceptionally rare. Normally every boar protects its candy body-parts with extreme ferocity.

I had a really hard time voting. Sometimes when that happens I ask myself "which one would make the best action figure." As in, which one would I most like to pick up, turn around, walk across a table or fly through the air making funny noises. And that made me vote for Supervlieg.

There were some really wonderful entries this round. JakkaS of course with the super tasty pig, Tom Garden's very clever idea and Stephan R's wonderful night time light effects were just perfect for this holiday. Artifex, I almost voted for you too for the clever Halloween camoflague.

I couldn't get the detail in the fur to be seen by making it much smaller. I looked for any guideline on max size and couldn't find one. In any case the whole picture isn't 2000x2000 the description bumps up the size a lot. Sorry but i am rather annoyed i spent ages on that picture and to get it rejected for something like that when there isn't a guideline for the size is devastating.

Any chance of me sending just the picture in without the description making it a lot smaller and getting into the vote?.

Oh man, people, this was a really tough round. As a matter of fact, I don't even know which one I'm going to vote for!

Artifex33 that is a mighty fine creature - very E.T. in disguise-like! Very creative - and waaaaay too much text for most people's taste, I'm sure

Cloister MAN, you are making progress! This one might be my favorite of your pieces so far! You really caught a fairy tale like lighting and background/colours. Swell, my friend!

Stephen_R that is rad. It is the image that I stared at for the longest. It took me a while to read, but it is a crazy creature, thus this was no surprise. I still am a little confuse about what those tiny appendages are supposed to be. It looks like tiny hooved feet (2 of them) and 2 tiny hands holding bags. Those too large sacks in which the kids are do look a little like reproductive organ parts, I guess. But such a wonderfully rendered image!

JakkaS that is such a cute pig and such a nice story! Very cool, very cool.

Moai I wish you had rendered the head much more. I still prefer the original pencil sketch - I guess it's because it was already so strong as a pencil sketch. Obviously you divided up your time among the other project and I'm afraid it shows. It's just not a painting fleshed out enough to get my vote. Maybe next time. I still think that lovely pencil sketch is sooo sweet

Sorry, but what guideline do you need for an image size when most people have resolutions from 800x600 - 1600x1200 ..... you made your pic 2000x2000, that means even the guys with the highest resolution have to scroll to see everything...

Besides there is a note in the rule with 800x600 as an orientation

Still make your pic smaller and type the concept-text, i will add it

It was either JaKKas or SuperV for me (both pics are awesome) , finally made up my choice and voted for JaKKas for his solid story and creature concept!

redehlert - Good entry, perhaps the palette is a bit too monochrome to convey the halloween spirit.

Einen - Nice style, I think if you vary the highlights a bit more, you can make your creature have more mass. If you know what I mean.

Vampire Ninja - Nice creature, I love the scaryness of it. Considering the rendering, it would be wise to focus on one area with the details and make the other parts a bit softer and less saturated. This helps the viewer to focus on one part.

Xpose - Nice creature, a bit too humanoid imo. Maybe next time add a few more subtle highlights and make your final a bit bigger res.

Greenjack - One of the best concepts, but you need to work on your rendering. Think about shadows to make your creatures a bit less flat.

Sinix - Excellent style and coloring. Maybe add a little more detail next time.

smartkyle - Funny concept. The rendering needs more shadows though. And make it bigger.

Stephan_R - Nice lighting and subject. I love the little see through cheeks. Maybe a few veins would finish is more nicely. The pose of the ghost-kid is a bit hard to read.

Michael Jaecks - Lovely disgusting concept. I miss a few hard highlights on the pancreas to give it that nice wet look. And that background is a bit plain compared to your last weeks entry.

Tom Garden - You have a great feeling for rendering underwater creatures. I guess they are your favorite, at least that what the lovely rendering of this creature tells me. The apples look a bit weird, floaty. And maybe the creature is a bit too odd to seem halloweeny.

Moai - Loved this design, I think the color could use more pop. Like I said, imo he would have benefitted from a orange head and some green stripes instead of the grey.

KaWaii - Excellent coloring and love the concept. Try to sharpen up some details you want the viewer to focus on. Keep it up!

guterrez - Nice colors and concept. The scale is not very convincing, maybe you should have a bit of his body obscured by mist or something.

Kian - Lovely little creature. Very little to crit, perhaps it would have been nice to see it in "action" to make the pic a bit more dynamic.

GatorKyle - Funny creature. A bit more Chow then Cow imo. But I like the rendering and coloring.

Artifex33 - Like you concept a lot, also love the little explanations. Maybe some parts could use some sharpening or detailing to grab the attention. Right now everything demands the same amount of attention.

xgabo - Lovely rendering, especially the backlighting. Its a bit weird that the blue light is there considering there a wall right next to him but looks lovely nevertheless. Maybe it would be nice to see it without the outlines.

Haxxxor - Nice, but love to see some colors on there. When you digitize it, try flipping it over to see some slightly skewed parts.

JakkaS - Like I said before, It's hard not to vote for you each time you enter. I can't believe the originality you come up with everytime. Lovely, ace in the hole, voted.

El_Khan - Lovely concept, but needs a bit of a description. Doesnt look like species but more like a Character. Maybe you could have toned down the background a bit to set the creature apart a bit more.

Ilaekae - Nice concept, needs a bit more shadowing to "unflatten" it.

Trashy - Good description. The creature itself could a bit more shadowing, but maybe they dont have that in his dimension.

romance - lovely coloring and good concept. Maybe you should work at higher res and scale down when you post. That way you can sharpen up some parts a bit.

Cloister - I like that creature a lot. And I love how some parts are lit and other parts are in the shadow. The background is a bit flat, and the reflections in his eye look a bit off. Lots of improvements coming from you during the last weeks though. See you back in a few!

Alot of great entries this round, but Jakkas got my vote too. Stephen_R almost got my vote, and I liked Artifex's too.

I voted for smartkyle. Mostly because the creature reminds me of something you'd meet in some children's story. I guess that's why I think the few shadows look alright, in this case.

Uhnm, funny how all the killer entry's suddenly pop up in the last days. Had a very very hard time voting.

My vote went for Artifex33. Think it's the most "Trick or Treat" monster. Also very clever design. Had to laugh when I saw his real face ^^

all the entries are great didn't made it with my own piece still learning to be a better painter anyway.

It was a hard choice I liked Xgabo piece with the line art and the creature is great the design is awesome.Then I saw Stephan R piece for a halloween design i think Stephan R fits the subject most also the lightning is great I like the car in teh backrgound the children you can see through the light of the car. I think i'll vote for Stephan

Tom Garden got my vote this time around... excellent idea and rendering of a creature that didn’t ring door bells... I did quite enjoy JakkaS entry as well.

Great to see such an interest, and so many entries... I wouldn’t think of critiquing... just would pass on a great job done by all.

Sorry I didnt get to compete in this round... guess I was too worried about making someting that didnt ring a door bell ... still new to makin COWs... would apprech it if someone would give a gentle nudge every now n then should I get off track that way I can rework, and repost in time. tks
