eheheh very nice idea ( I love NY bahahaha ), I like especially the colors and the retro design of the image, I think that you could obtain more dynamis of figure if you used a little torsion of the robot chest!
Keep more update mate

Tnx Chris! I working my first book too. Some sketches please thank you! You can send me a mail with you pictures. My mail adress is [email protected]

The last one is great!
Can it be you like the retro designs?
Where will your comic be published?
hey chris,
great sb, guess this latest piece is my favorit! perspective is probably a little extreme, but the dynamic is great!
how long do i still have to wait for "alpha bettie"?
That sientist fella is funny.
First: The image in this post is some old stuff I did some years ago as a backcover illustration for a 'Perpetrated Press' roleplaying book.
The reason I post some old art today is I always wanted to post with showing some art too and I can't show any of my new stuff yet, so I use this old image instead while posting. And I had to post because you guys are crazy and giving me and the sketchbook 5 stars! THANK YOU! I appreciate it and I will work hard to keep up the quality. Thx again!
To your posts:
Dreamworker: Thanks! Great you like the idea and the designI think this kind of image (with the 'mad' professor) can only work with some kind of retro design. Something new would look too strange I think. The robot has to look like he was made from cheap parts and by one guy only... some kind of garage production... like Apple
(just kidding!) hehe
Infinit: Thx man! It is not the 'normal' Gamestar btw... it is the GameStar/dev magazine for developers... and hopefully they don't play Burning Crusade too much
legionare: Thank you! I tried to look up your link but it isn't working. Can you post another please?
Flesheater: Thx! Nice Avatar btw...and as I said before I think the retro design is the only one which works with this kind of 'story' behind the image. But you are right (a little bit
) I like the retro stuff. Must be my fable for Flash Gordon. And regarding Alpha Bettie: I can't talk about it yet. It will be announced when the issue is finished.
Arne S.: Thx man! Great to see you here again... I think the perspective can't be extreme enough hehe
Regarding Bettie: I had to finish some other stuff like the workshop and will finish pencils on Bettie soon. It has to be inked and colored then which will take me some time too... so realistically and because I only can work in my spare time on Bettie I think it will take some more weeks. Keep a look at my blog (www.chrisnoeth.de) where I will post when it is finished. Probably there will be some preview stuff before too
Dynamike: Thank you! You should see his brother... hehe
Best,
Chris
PShameless self-promotion...
... if you are from Germany and want to read my 'Making Of' of my 'Scientist In Love' image go and buy the game developer magazine 'GameStar/dev'.

I've got some feedback on my work from the last months. All in all people like it but want to see more 'realistic' and less cartoony stuff... so your wish is my command and I will show you something else... starting with this... it is called...
"The Ring"

Very nice concepts...
i really like the idea about Alpha Betti...the combination of old timer airplanes and future space crafts ^^!
Personally i dont mind cartoony you have your style which is great!
Bright and clean!![]()

Blaz: Thanks man! Great you like the Bettie designs.
The new issue of 'GameStar/dev' is out now. It contains my tutorial MakingOf about how I made the 'Scientist In Love' image you can see some posts above.
Before I started to work out the image I did some idea-thumbnails. Because they are so small in print here are some bigger versions... but keep in mind they are only fast thumbnails to sketch down some ideas...
And here are some more thumbnails which have nothing to do with the tutorial. This ones are some visualization work from 'Alpha Bettie'...
There will be some news regarding this project the next weeks.
I also have some GREAT news about another comic project I will work on soon... but I can't tell you more right now. Maybe after New York Comic Con...
Best,
Chris

Okay... New York Comic Con is over and you still have to wait a little longer until I can let the cat out of the sack. But hey, there are other great news I can talk about yet... like...
I will relocate in April and...
I will work as a freelancer fulltime starting in May 2007!
Because of the relocation and work in my new home I have not much time beside my actual fulltime job as a pixelartist and can't show any new work. So for today it is some old stuff (again):
A fast concept from a graphic novel project I put on ice...
Some other fast ones:
And a guy you maybe know... also done a long time ago:
Regarding the news I can't talk about... *gough* *gough*... Papercutz... *gough* *gough*... I think I can tell more soon
Best,
Chris

Freelancer mhh?I hope it works out and wish you good luck.
I like the flat colors from the girl in green (your last post)... even if this is from your old stuff
- Mike
Freelancer: Does this mean you can post more comic work in the future?Good luck!
I too like the girl in green... it reminds me of some french comics drawn by the artist FLOCH.
Uli
Hey what is this? I post some of my old stuff and loose one star... damn!![]()
Dynamike: Thank you! Sure it will work out and give me the chance to do more concept designs and comic related material. I'm looking forward to this new time! ... there could be worst things than working from home and being his own boss.
Flesheater: Thank you too! You will see more of my comic work... I don't know if you will see it here but you can buy it... hehe. Sure I will post what I'm allowed to post. The girl with the green spacesuit was a quick designsketch I did for a comic project I had planned to do as an album for the european market. I decided to do something for the american market instead when Dan contacted me with Alpha Bettie which is a fantastic story I instantly loved and had to do. 2006 started as a great year and ended as a very sad one because of a death in my family. My wife and my little boy are okay and I'm looking forward to the time ahead and some great projects... Bettie included
And because this is a Sketchbook and I posted too much old stuff already... here are some newer sketches of two childhood heroes...![]()
I'm working to get the five stars back!
Best,
Chris

Hey there nice work with the Star Trek characters!! I love that show and always will. Don't worry about the stars, just keep doing what you're doing. Those stars are not an accurate representation of your work.

Flesheater: Thank you!... and your wish is my comand (see image)...
Arne S.: Thanks Arne! I can need it...

Ok, let me start with saying "I've quit my job".... I'm sure this is something you would like to say too right!?
hehe
... and it gets better: I relocated and I will work as a freelancer from at home starting today
My first project is a comic for the new 'Tales from the Crypt' comics from Papercutz. I will start working on it in exact 8 hours from now.
Today I've finished a tutorial for the biggest German game developer magazine 'GameStar/dev' where I created a character. The Tutorial will show how I created the Girl you can see in this post.
Beside my comic work on TFTC I will work on cover illustrations for a German book publisher. More about this very cool gig I will tell you soon...
Here is my 'Action Girl' from the tutorial:
CU soon!

Chris

Hi Chris, nice to see you again. First of all I must say "Good Luck with your new job experience", I think that with your great talent the customers will be truly large in number.
I like the last character, especially the clothes.
Keep sharing, cheers![]()
Dreamworker: A big THANK YOU for your kind words! Great you like the girl from the tutorial.
I'm trying to post more stuff in the future now that I'm working full time as a freelancer but I'm so deep into fantastic new projects right now I think it will take a while to get to the 'regular' posts... so for today it is only a fast sketch with some color tests I did for one of my current projects. I think you will hear about it soon
Best,
Chris

Wow congrats on the whole freelance-comic-artist thing! I'm excited for you. Your environments, as always, totally rule. I love the image of the chick facing down the oncoming missiles/helicopters.
Good luck!
I'll be checking back...
the greyscale stuff from page one and the ring thing are great! i love em
Ur coloring is some of the best stuff I seen on this sight.....i love the soft colors and how u Handel your highlights on many of your pieces………….
And your sketches are very neat and clean …clean crisp lines I love that…
Very COOL!
hey man...great comic style you goti like your perspective knowledge in the thumbnail pieces you had.
hows the new job working out for you? I think I'll subscribe to your sb if u dont mind![]()
After my first month as a freelancer I can already tell this is a fantastic experience and I am very glad I made this jump. If you want to read more about my current projects you can read my new blog entry at www.ChrisNoeth.com
kischi: Danke! Thanks too for checking by!
Discoskull: Thank you very much! Working as a comic book artist is great. Comics are the medium I love most and it is very satisfying to work on sequentials and telling a story with pictures. Regarding the girl on the roof... she is based on a story I will do as a creator owned project someday. The sketch in todays post is a 'close up' of this girl
stonercurly: Thank you for your comment! I do not work on many b&w sketches this days because I use the break time to try out color techniques like you can see in the sketch below. But I will do more b&w sketches asap.
iceman478: Thank you very much! Great you like my art. Thanks for your kind words.
paperX: Thanks for checking my sketchbook and for your comment! Sure it is okay to subscribehehe. My 'new' job is fantastic! Check out todays blog entry at www.ChrisNoeth.de to read more details. Thx!
So here is a new quicky, showing a character (in development) for my creator owned comic I will do someday. I did this one to try a color technique.
Best,
Chris
