As I said, Soja, we gotta rock the show next time we meet

So, here's the stuff I made at the sketchmeet. It was so much fun I'm still feeding on it. Seldom kind of art-boost I haven't had for years. All I wanna do is make art, sketch, paint, build stuff that looks cool. I doodle most of the day, have bought a new sketchbook that I use for life drawing in class only, and stuff like that. The best decision I made this year was to go to the sketchmeet. First life drawing class for me, Miriam was very brave to sit out (or rather, stand out) as model. Thank you

And some speedies I will most likely not continue any time soon, so before they mold on my harddrive, here you go.

The traditional piece is my a piece I've done for an uni assignment, named "Bacterial". First traditionally painted piece, acrylics on carton.

EDIT: And a last one. Quick... whatevers done during Fipse's martial arts lecture. Very insightful and interesting, everyone was feeling the passion and expertise Thorsten spread. Koshime stepped onto the battlefield for a minute. Cool guy, too bad I didn't talk to you mate.

    atlantik: thanks.
Mike: Actually, I think you were the person drawn most often at the sketchmeet besides Miriam, so I guess there's something

I have to do an isometric drawing of a room with cupboard, a bed and a chair, all freehand without any other tools than a pencil and eraser, on A2. I already killed a ruler by smashing it against the table in rage, so I drew a self portrait, kindly reminding myself that I lost appetite for the past weeks and lost about 10 pounds, now weighting just over 120 pounds. Stressful times, I'm a walking skeleton \o/

This is what I listen to most of the time, by the way. If it's Electro, I listen to it. This week I'm totally into Electroclash. This is Busy P - Rainbow Man. Next up is Kavinsky - Testarossa Autodrive (for the 10th time today) and then Noisia - Monster for a change.

really? i was super disappointed cause i was expecting to draw lots more. i almost didn't do shit Saturday except the lectures and life drawing cause my head wanted to explode. Fucked up man. I like drum and bass a lot but when i'm drawing i tend to put on some easy going music like Portishead or smooth Jazz or something. Also depends on what i want to draw.

nice self portrait. you should do one in color as well. i'm totally planning on doing more of those myself.

You've got some great digital paintings here. Good sense of humor - especially the guy taking a leak off his launchpad. One crit - watch out for always doing a monochromatic image. Try and add some variety of color to your work. Limit the monochrome for when there's a reason - like that one image of the sci-fi soldier with the flashlight. He flashes it orange and sees some monstrosity in front of him. The monochrome emphasizes the orange flare, and makes for a strong image. Also, when there are rocks reflecting some strong light source. These make for good, limited color palettes. Maybe a good, boring still life from life would help you see more colors.

Metal-Mike: Oh, actually I meant you were drawn most often. Almost everyone has a sketch of you. You're sitting very still when you're drawing, that's why you make the perfect model But you also drew much, seeing that you're last sketchbook update was rather massive.

Kicek: Davon kommt also der Gewichtsverlust? Sag das doch

    drew.gee: Thanks

TASmith: Thank you. Yeah my images tend to have few colors. But this has evolved into a kind of style actually. I like limiting them and think they make for good atmospheric effects. But alas, you're right I'm still lazy.

Another alcohol-based blackout on my list, this is what I can remember from Friday night:

Thanks, that's what I was trying to achieve.

Here's an uni assignment. Eight historical fonts with a dip pen. Two more to do (Capitalis Monumentalis and Humanstic Cursive, I hate them with a passion). They're all jerky, but not enough time to train them properly. But resized to 400px, they look... okay.

Are you going to the next sketchmeet in Hells mouth ?

You should do some more acrylics, I'd hang it on the wall.

Unfortunately, I can't attend Hellmouth. Too much stuff to do for uni. Will you attend? Oh, and thanks about the acrylics. Yeah I actually want to switch to oils right away. Acrylics feel toyish compared to oils.

And some advanced sketches from the last weeks in uni. Yes, I drink blood from a coffee mug.

    Yeah maybe he is, hehe.

Some Tempera experiments. I'm trying to get into traditional painting and as these colors are totally moldy, I deplete them asap. Nothing great, but it was time for an update. More stuff asap.

Hi Jabo. This is the first time I've seen this sb (don't know how I missed it) and I've got to say I'm an instant fan. I especially love the environments throughout this thread. Keep it up and good luck with the traditional painting.

    Thx so much, guys.

I don't come to painting as often nowadays, unfortunately. I'm full of creativity, but no time to let it out. They're trying to sift our semester because we're too many, so it's pressure on most of the time. Kinda sucks, but I guess that's how life goes, as they say. So, here's a little speedy I've done today. Needed something naive and cute to fight back all the sinister thoughts

Finished the dragon. Unfortunately, there wasn't a lot of resonance about it. I don't know... It feels empty somehow, maybe missing a foreground. But I wasn't sure if it damaged the composition... So here it goes. Painted with 0% edged round brush.
