Archipelago, I was just jiving with him, the clue being the use of the word "smartypants". I, like probably everyone else here, have stolen techniques from Wes, there's no shame in it, unless like you said it's a blatant ripoff without giving the guy credit.

oh goodie another update. Awesome work getting really dark. Do you ever shade with the side of the pencil? I find it gives some interesting results when you want a nice rough texture.

thanks for the advice, i need to find my own way.

another great update, inspiring like always. i really like your slight tilt and tweak of the building in this one, as well as another one a few posts back. it makes everything seem like its more intense and heavy, also as giving it a strange sense of distance.

great stuff all around, the last one is great, cool composition. i think you don't necessarily have to work on it any more, it's outstanding already. i like how you develop your style and constantly work on yourself. i noticed one thing: many of your human characters have similar head and facial proportions. i noticed that in post 999 - maybe try to play a little more with relationships between eyes, noses and so on (i think you know what i mean ). again, great works. cheers

fantastic work Dan, you are going from strength to strength, last one is great although the perspective is a bit weird.
I think I would like to see you just knuckle down and draw characters straight up, just designs not the other sketches along with it, in other words finished characters.
    Nuts stuff man, love it

That's what I'm talking about. The guy in the last update has that semblance of an upper lip. Maybe if you lightened the shadows on it (on the actual lip, and maybe some on top of it) then you would see it more. The rendering is awesome and it has an awesome dark feeling about it already. Also, his left eye looks like it's bionic or something, doesn't really have the same 'look' as his right eye. Might want to go back in there and make it darker or give it more clarity so that it matches the other one.

Not much of a crit, I know, but hey, it's something.

Pure awsomeness , your rendering is so amazing!! you must have such a vast visual library for fabric, textures, etc etc. Do you work professionaly as an artist? ps: I would love to see some finiched character designs, just to see what you would doo
